you've never been better
but you've been acting a little strange
you're like some terrorist
reading battle plans behind my back
know you'll be beside me
at the frontline like the hopeless romantic
you are
you and i, like bankrobbers
couldn't think of something real to do
could you?
ran away to leave the circus
you had to be outrageous and you had to be different
you had to go and get yourself killed
you had to kill me too
you and i, like bankrobbers
caught off guard, doomed from the start (x2)
you and i, like bankrobbers
only people so desperate can be so
so frightened, so determined
you're so determined
it's frightening (x2)
you and i, like bankrobbers
we take what's not ours
while we destroy the evidence
we leave a trail of leads
leading us back (x3)
leading us (x2)
you and i, like bankrobbers
caught off guard, doomed from the start (x2)
doomed from the start

the most absurd vocal delivery in all of sfk's career, but the orchestral twiddles after "caught off guard" and "doomed from the start" are becautiful.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
