I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be there calling at four o'clock in the morning
'Cause I'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home
Ah, the sun is blinding
I stayed up again
Oh, I am finding
That that's not the way I want my story to end
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain
Inside
You're my protection
But how do I feel this good sober?
I don't wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence
The quiet scares me 'cause it screams the truth
Please don't tell me that we had that conversation (I know we had)
Cause I won't remember, save your breath, 'cause what's the use?
Ah, the night is calling
And it whispers to me softly come and play
But I, I am falling
And If I let myself go I'm the only one to blame
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over? (Oh, woah)
No pain
Inside
You're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?
Coming down, coming down, coming down
Spinning 'round, spinning 'round, spinning 'round
I'm looking for myself, sober
Coming down, coming down, coming down
Spinning 'round, spinning 'round, spinning 'round
Looking for myself, sober
When it's good, then it's good, it's so good 'till it goes bad
'Till you're trying to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself cry, never again
Broken down in agony just tryin' to find a friend
Oh
Oh
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me (nothing can touch me)
But why do I feel this party's over? (Why do I feel this party's over?)
No pain (no)
Inside (ah)
You're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober? (How do I feel this good sober?)
I'm safe
Up high
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over? (Oh, woah)

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
god i can so relate to this song
I don't think it's really about love at all. I mean, of course a song is going to speak to each person differently, but I think the line "How do I feel this good sober?" isn't saying... How do I feel this good right now? I'm sober!<br /> <br /> I think the last bit explains that line. It's more of a "How am I going to feel this good when I'm sober?"<br /> <br /> Like... She knows that this isn't how she wants to go on, but she can't figure out how she's going to ever feel that good again if she gets/stays sober. Which I guess I can relate to. <br /> <br /> And...<br /> "When it's good, then it's good, it's so good till it goes bad <br /> Till you're trying to find the you that you once had <br /> I have heard myself cry, never again <br /> Broken down in agony just tryna find a fit "<br /> <br /> That high is so good... until its not, or it wears off. And once you get to depend on that high, you lose who you were before and you're trying to find that again. You put down the bottle and say never again, but you always go back, just one more time... everytime. You always break down and go back, just to know its where you fit.<br /> <br /> But that's just my view. Havin an alcoholic for a parent, and struggling with it myself at times, the song really shows you inside the mindset. And it could be with anything... alcohol, drugs, one night stand kind of things. <br /> <br />
Wow...A lot of people have commented on this song.<br /> <br /> This song's meaning to me is more on the lines of finding ones self.<br /> <br /> Like in the beginning of the song, pink is laying in the bed with white lingerie on and you see herself in that same white lingerie walking out the door.<br /> That (to me) symobolizes her good side being lost in things such as drugs and alcohol. Then you see nothing but pink in black. That symbolizes (once again) to me, pink being lost in the darkness of herself. And she's constantly looking for herself(the white lingeried pink)<br /> ergo: "when you're trying to find the you that you once had"<br /> <br /> When she's having "sex" with herself. It's not so much her having sex with herself, it's more her trying to search inside to find the good part of her again.<br /> In "sex scene" both pinks are in black.<br /> then at the end it seems to me that she's found that "good side" of her once again.<br /> And so the black lingerie pink is left behind in the bed. <br /> I dunno, that's just what i get out of it.
Its about her growing up n getting over the party. Coming terms with the fact that u cant always party!<br /> She is growing as a person not just as a artist..
