No tell me what it is, it isn't fair
'Cause I'm wasting time, but it isn't my heart
it isn't my fault.
And every situation understands, well
The anecdote of chasing the location to your door,
Yeah yeah...da da...

'Cause I'm wasting time, now I'm wasting money again
and all the cigarettes that I have never smoked
And all the letters that I have never sent, da da...

And he was sitting by the swimming pool
But he was scared, 'cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance.
Getting older's not been on my plans
But it's never late, it's never late enough for me to stay, da da...

'Cause I'm wasting time, now I'm wasting money again
and all the cigarettes that I have never smoked
And all the letters that I have never sent, da da...

I think about liking someone who doesn't return the favor. cigarettes, they only hurt you while they may give you pleasure-- in the long one every cigarette is a waste ; maybe she relates every moment she spends with this someone to a cigarette

    My Interpretation

I don't see this as a song about a relationship. To me it sounds more like people who might be, or have, contemplated suicide:

And he was sitting by the swimming pool But he was scared, cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance. (He might be thinking of drowning/killing himself, but he has second thoughts, reflecting that it might not be his time to go)

Getting olders not been on my plans But its never late, its never late enough for me to stay (She never planned on living long enough reach an older age, but if she had a good enough reason to live longer she'd consider it)

.... And all the cigarettes that I have never smoked. And all the letters that I have never sent (Sounds like she is looking back on all the things she hasn't done, maybe things she might regret)

it might be about a person who is inlove and not feeling corresponded, she feels like she's wasting her time because she hasn't seen any improvement.

    Song Meaning

The first verse i think anyway when she says " what it is, it isn't fair cause Im wasting time, but it isn't my heart it isn't my fault. " She was in a relationship with someone, then she or they broke up. Then this new guy comes in, so she was getting over her 1st, but she still kinda loved the 1st guy but she didn't show it(for whatever reason). And I think 1st kept asking her back, but she already was commited to the new guy. "And every situation understands, well The anecdote of chasing the location to your door "(But she does want to be with the 1st, but if she could, she would, but she can't...its complicated)

I think its not the a favor she referring to the cigarettes, I think the cigarrettes reps the chances she didn't take, and the time she has wasted (the money she has spent). And the letters are just the fact that she never told the guy that she loved him.

"And he was sitting by the swimming pool. But he was scared, cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance. " Is about how the guy she is in the relationship with, realizes that she loves him, but she alwaysed wanted to be with the other guy. Like The other guy was her first love, and its wasn't his time, or his chance.

"Getting olders not been on my plans" is about how, probably the guy she commited to didn't want kids "But its never late, its never late enough for me to stay" and like almost, like the guy she has been for so long realizes that, yeah he will always love her and he will probably love her still, after when she goes back to the other guy. Her first i mean.

and the secound around to the course, is about how she wasted the time with the other guy when she was supposed to be with the 1st guy. And maybe she did end up finding the original guy, but he found someone else, and she just wasted her chances, and and missed the chance of being with him loving hime, and the chances of telling him how she loved him...

    i think anyways :]

    My Interpretation

I think the girl is in love, but he is unsure and taking his time in deciding. She needs to know what's the problem, because everything else depends on his door being open or closed and she is tired of chasing him. "And every situation understands, well The anecdote of chasing the location to your door" <-- I think it's something very personal, that we cannot understand...

"...And all the cigarettes that I have never smoked." <-- could be that she started smoking because of the situation "And all the letters that I have never sent, da da?" <-- could be the suicide letters, but she is still waiting for a "rescue response" from him

"And he was sitting by the swimming pool But he was scared, cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance." <-- could be something about suicide, but no clear idea :) "Getting olders not been on my plans
But its never late, its never late enough for me to stay, da da? <-- more like "Getting older has not been on my plans" as she was thinking about suicide, but he can always change that...

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
