A fugitive from unreality
No sign of my god damned serenity
Lost in these barren lands
That have nothing I demand
Had to look for something new
And that day I found you
I found you
I found you

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

A quasar from reality
With damaged mentality
I'll start editing your life
Replace the captain of your brain ship
Before we set sail for the fail

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

My destiny outruns me
And I can't find that key
To lock up everything that's bad inside of me
Don't you disagree
That your life would be so much better
Without me, that isn't hard to see
Hard to see

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Living in a house of cards
Waiting for it all to fall
Hope for the best plan for the worst
That's what my life is all about

Im not really sure, but it seems like he knows his destiny and there is nothing he can do to change it. He knows its going to happen, but is not sure when. He hopes for the best, but plans for his destiny. It out runs him, he cant change his destiny.

that sounds pretty accurate. That interpretation makes me think of the Christian outlook on all of our destiny. WIth the Antichrist and stuff. We know its coming, have no idea when, and we're hoping to God it's not in our life time. But many are prepared for it to happen and are constantly watching for signs. I know I am. The future plans this government is making seem WAY too close to the signs the bible gives in revelations...

I think that this song is about how the governments turn their backs on the people. I mean, we have all seen the anarchistic influences in SS's later songs, like "Revolution, Baby", "Burn This City", "Power Shift" so forth and et cetera. This song in particular feels to me like a cry for help, they know what will come, but they can't really do anything about it... Actually this whole album is in my mind their own thoughts of giving up, whereas the songs from the new album (that are currently released) are the more cocky versions.

@[Kahiara:35260] Actually I think the husband passed away, "She sang for you last night She heard you were calling" Many people say they have felt, heard, or seen their loved ones after they have passed. "Don't be scared now Close your eyes She holds guard tonight Go on forward no remorse Life will take it's course" This is said to the late husband by a third part (never named), who encourages him to pass on. Because life will eventually continue. The phrase "holds guard" refers to the ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_(ceremony) ) which is a Christian ceremony held after someone dies. Now it is usually held right after the funeral, but in most celtiic countries the wake is held before the funeral. "She danced with you last night so you will remember All you have shared, a lifetime." This sentence feels as if the only thing it wants to convey is their history together, namely, husband and wife. For the rest it just refers back to the first verse.

Shudder to Think
This song is timeless, and nearly 20 years after its creation, still possesses the mystique it did the first time i heard it ~1994. To me, at first blush, all those years ago, it had some kind of homo-erotic allure. The line "so that the others may do" tells of something which must be done for others to follow suit. It felt like like some kind of roxy-glam-pop invitation to sexual liberation. Upon further introspection I think the song may not have an intrinsic meaning, but simply represents a sort of "holding open the door" for people who otherwise might be affronted by this song/band's unusual style. I know, as a sort of armchair rock-historian, that there have been few bands so daring and so true to the sound that wanted to emerge from within, whether the creator wanted it or not. This band handled it with elegance and grace seldom, if ever, seen.
