In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
When the world has turned its back
When the days have turned pitch black
When the fear abducts your tongue
When the fire's dead and gone
So what now?
Where do I head
When you think it's all said and done
When you are the ostracized
Selfish written, dead goodbyes
Twisting on the tourniquet
When the pieces never fit
So what now?
Where do I head
When you think it's all said and done
Bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist
The Judas Kiss
When the storm has blacked your sky
Intuition crucify
When the ego strips your reign
Assassinate the living flame
So what now?
Where do I head
When you think it's all said and done
Venom of a life insane
Bites into your fragile veins
Eternal life and decimate
Patronize and complicate
So what now?
Where do I head
When you think it's all said and done
Bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist
The Judas Kiss
Judas lives, recite this vow
I've become your new god now
Follow you from dawn of time
Whispered thoughts into your mind
Watched your towers hit the ground
Lured your children never found
Helped your kings abuse their crown
In the heart of feeble man
Plant the seeds of my own plan
The strong and powerful will fall
Find a piece of me in all
Inside you all so bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist

It's about Satan and someone selling their soul to him.
The person in question has given up: " So what now? Where go I?/When you think it's all said and done"
So Satan offers him to sell his soul to him: "When you think it's all said and done Venom of a life insane Bites into your fragile veins"
And then Satan talks about all the evil he has done and how he is everywhere: "Watched your towers hit the ground Lured your children never found Helped your kings abuse their crown
In the heart of feeble man Plant the seeds of my own plan The strong and powerful will fall Find a piece of me in all "
So it's about someone (everyone?) who has or will give up and turn their back on the world will be tempted to betray everyone and everything. And it's more likely to happen than you think.
i think you're spot on. Its all about how the devil comes to people at that precise moment when they have nowhere else to turn, corrupting their minds and promising them what they think they need.

I'd like to add to this though.

In my opinion, what makes this song so great is not just the awesomely expressive lyrics but the way in which the music contributes to the emotion and environment in which such a soul destroying moment must occur. Throughout, the riffs are aggressive and potent like Satan himself and they have this evil aura about them. In particular, its emphasised by that sharp twisting of that note in the intro and after each chorus. Awesome

I also see the song in different phases. In the first two verses and choruses, its all about how the devil approaches this unfortunate person with an offer that is seemingly irrefusable at this desperate time. Then the solo comes in (and what a solo it is...), I see this as the moment where Satan is actually weaving his evil and this person is accepting his fate, carrying out whatever evil deed he must in order to be 'relieved' of his troubles. And in this act he seals his fate and at that moment Satan shouts, almost in a mocking tone, "Judas lives, recite this vow, I've become your new God now!"... and Kirk continues the solo in its awesomeness, as if it's Satan himself shredding it in celebration of his victory.

Satan then goes on to brag about all his victories and how he's deceived and conjured up man's demise so many times throughout history. The song then ends with another chorus, kind of shouting at everyone who is listening, that he'll get us one way or another, so just Bow the F**K Down!

Anyway, this is just my perception of the whole thing, it plays out like a movie in my head everytime I hear it. For me, Metallica is one of the few bands that can express the emotions that accompany such themes as Death, Redemption, Glory and the undying battle between Good and Evil. Pretty awe-inspiring to me.
@mankvill This could be even MORE Elaborated! Directing to your last statement of Betrayal. Seeing as this is a biblical topic and it perhaps being referenced in the title. Judas, One of the twelve original disciples of Christ had betrayed Jesus, he is known for the "Kiss" or betrayal of Christ. So the title itself outright states this.
