Goodbye my friend, goodbye
My love, you're in my heart
It was preordained that we should part
We're united by and by, united by and by
Goodbye
No handshake to endure, there was nothing

[Chorus]
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh god, written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god, it was written in blood

Inside no sadness, for a prowl
As nothing new lay dying now
Inside no sadness, for a prowl
And nothing new lay dying now

And it was written in blood

It was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god, it was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god!
It was written, in blood
On a suicide note

Like roses, we blossom and die
Like roses, we blossom and die
Like roses, we blossom and die
We fall apart (Die)
We fall apart (Die)

Like roses, we blossom and die
Like roses, we blossom and die
We fall apart
We fall apart
Like roses
We've fallen apart, fallen apart

It was written in blood
On a fucking suicide note
The night before he died

[Chorus]

Like roses, we blossom and die
Like roses, we blossom and die
We've fallen apart (Fallen apart!)
We've fallen apart (Fallen apart!)
Fallen apart
We've fallen

These roses, white roses
Roses
My roses
White roses

It's about russian poet Sergei Aleksandrovich Esenin's suicide note which he wrote in his own blood. They pretty much copied the note word for word except for the "It was written in blood" part. Also, "Like roses we blossom then die. We fall apart" is theirs. Most of the rest is just his suicide note with some repeated lines. The original note is here: allpoetry.com/poem/8511209-Goodbye__my_friend__goodbye-by-Sergei_Aleksandrovich_Esenin

If anyone actually bothered to read the inside of the Suicide Season album cover they would have the read that all lyrics on the album were written by Oliver Sykes with the EXCEPTION of It Was Written In Blood. The lyrics from this song are extracts from the Russian poet, Sergei Esenin's, suicide note - which he happened to write with his own blood. This really isn't any input towards the song, but I just wanted to clear up all the insulting the of the lyrics and stuff cos it was really bugging me :) Though now I think about it, it's a really sad, creepy kinda song once you think about the lyrics being from an actual suicide note :|

"Goodbye, my friend, goodbye. My dear one, you are in my breast. A predestined parting Promises a reunion ahead.

Goodbye, my friend, without a touch of hand, without a word, Don't be sad and do not frown, Dying is nothing new in this life, And living, of course, isn't any newer."

Thats the suicide note this song was based on

Why does everyone think that every single song is about a relationship? I'm not saying that it isn't but think outside the box a lil bit. When i come to this website to look at what the song might mean, it's not very useful when all i read is "It's obviously about a relationship". And I know that a lot of bands write about past relationships but thats not what it's all about. I mean if you're a real Bring Me The Horizon fan you've read their other lyrics and seen what he says about past relationships and he doesn't put it lightly. Just think about how it may not be about a relationship. Just because it's about suicide doesn't mean it's about a relationship. I think it's more about a friend commiting suicide and he's starting to question the point of life because we live then die, hense "We blossom we die!". But I may be wrong. Who knows besides the band.

    Song Meaning

Some people are right about the meaning of this song, and most are far off. the meaning of the song is this. all the parts of the song minus the "it was written in blood" part are extrracts from a suicide note written by the great russian poet sergei esenin. He slit his wrists and wrote the note in his own blood, hence the name "it was written in blood. So he turned his suicide note into a poem. Just so you know this is right xD i have the cd and it says it on the inside.<3

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
