The blight parade, that trite brigade
Were the vandals from the scandal in the motorcade
The industry, it's plain to see
Had to wangle all the angles for the press charade
The rest we see, interestingly
In the drizzle with a chisel and a pessary
The ones that stayed, the ones that strayed
All made a beeline for the felines in the company

I got Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!
Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!

The righteous goons, check out their runes
As they caper with a taper to some acid tunes
The actor boys, the tractor boys
The wizards and the lizards in the harvest moon
The savage toys the lord employs
Make 'em snivel as they swivel like an anglepoise
The bright dragoons, their cheap festoons
Apostles with the fossils and the scraping noise

They got Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!
Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!

It seems the crimes are always mine
I excoriate the horror but it feels divine
I like that scene in submarines
All the jackals in their shackles with the limpet mines
The lactic queen is so serene
See her nuzzle at the muzzle of an M16
She's fierce and fine, so many spines
She's got the hatchet and the ratchet
And the victor's spleen

She got Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!
Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!

The fat and dumb to this have come
An historic paregoric, now we all feel numb
The shifty deals that time reveals
Show a raked accumulation, wanna get me some
The slimy spiels, one sometimes feels
Are a nation's lubrication for its squeaky wheels
That upturned bum, those bony gums
Don't tussle with the muscle of the poison eels

Got Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!
Voiled Karletus! Voiled Karletus!

Saul don't have it, just believe it
(Chimps in exile can't receive it)
Clench don't got it
Quite surprising, he bought all our merchandising
Delia has done the cooking
(No one ugly gets a look in)
Got two sizes, huge and man-size
Calvin Klein has bought the franchise

Saul don't have it, just believe it
(Chimps in exile can't receive it)
Clench don't got it
Quite surprising, he bought all our merchandising
Delia has done the cooking
(No one ugly gets a look in)
Got two sizes, huge and man-size
Calvin Klein has bought the franchise

Saul don't have it, just believe it
(Chimps in exile can't receive it)
Clench don't got it
Quite surprising, he bought all our merchandising
Delia has done the cooking
(No one ugly gets a look in)
Got two sizes, huge and man-size
Calvin Klein has bought the franchise

That's an amazing job of deciphering the lyrics. Voiled means partially obscured, for example, a model covered in a transparent cloth. Karletus? I have no idea.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
