12/08/73
That was all I got and now you got me

All I ever really wanted was to take the blame
I will go down in history and not down in flames
Meningitis,
I will survive this,
Dry sockets and a schizophrenic crisis
The time of the nine has begun
Get out of the way or you will suffer as one

This is so typical,
Apocalyptical,
Hanging on abysmal release,
Jesus,
I don't need this,
Don't wanna be this,
Icon in the making,
My hands are fucking shaking

What if god doesn't care?
What if god doesn't care?

Remember,
Surrender,
The time is now
Continue,
We're in you,
And we will burn your cities down

America is a killing name
It doesn't feel or discriminate
Life is just a killing field
It's all that's left, nothing's real
Throw away your disposable past
And fall apart like a cigarette ash
We are the fatal and vital ones of the world
And we will burn your cities down

What if god doesn't care?
What if god doesn't care?

America is a killing name
It doesn't feel or discriminate
Life is just a killing field
It's all that's left, nothing's real
Throw away your disposable past
And fall apart like a cigarette ash
We are the fatal and vital ones of the world
And we will burn your cities down
Down,

We will burn your cities down
We will burn your cities down

We will burn your cities down
Feed the hungry, feed them shit
Feed them bones and politics
You wanna revolutionize?
Be specific and believe your eyes
Start a war in another backyard
And we'll destroy your house of cards
Give me a minute and I'll change your mind
Give me a bullet and I'll change your life

Remember,
Surrender,
The time is now
Continue,
We're in you,
And we will burn your cities down

America is a killing name
It doesn't feel or discriminate
Life is just a killing field
It's all that's left, nothing's real
Throw away your disposable past
And fall apart like a cigarette ash
We are the fatal and vital ones of the world
And we will burn your cities down, down, down
We will burn your cities down, down, down
We will burn your cities down
America, what if "god" doesn't care?

definition of Gematria or gimatria (Rabbinic Hebrew גימטריה gēmaṭriyā), is a system of assigning numerical value to an alphabet. The word Gematria is believed to have been formed from a metathesis of the Greek word grammateia ("play upon letters"), from gramma (letter) and literally means 'that which is written'[1]. It is extant in English since the 17th century from translations of works by Giovanni Pico della Mirandola. Although ostensibly derived from Greek, it is largely used in Jewish texts of Tanakh and Talmud, notably in those associated with the Kabbalah.

Some identify two forms of gematria: the "revealed" form, which is prevalent in many several hermeneutic methods found throughout Rabbinic literature, and the "mystical" form, a largely Kabbalistic practice [2]

this song has more meaning then even i know... perhaps something to do with the name america using gematria to tie it to killing.. idk

    My Opinion

MOFO your entitled to your opinion but I do not think Slipknot is advocating killing familes. It's about the US getting into wars with other countries for oil or to push our ideals and religion on them. It is suggesting that killing in the name of christianity or god is wrong. I don't know the average age of slipknot fans but I am 49 years old, educated and have kids in high school and college. Even an old F@@K like me can see they are simply voicing there displeasure with our governments policies for the past 8 years or so.

This song is clearly heavily influenced by Jewish mysticism.

Gematria - is a system of assigning numerical value to a word or phrase, in the belief that words or phrases. Although ostensibly derived from Greek, it is largely used in Jewish texts, notably in those associated with the Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism).

The Jews have 613 Mitzvots (commandments) which they strive to follow, one of which is "To slay the inhabitants of a city that has become idolatrous and burn that city." = "We will burn your cities down."

The Zohar, which is the main text of the Kabbalah states that all non-Jews (gentiles / goi) possesses a lower order of soul than Jews. In the Garden of Eden, Eve had sex with both the serpent (Satan) and Adam. Satan was the father of Cain & Adam the father of Abel, Cain goes onto murder Abel for his wife. All non-Jews are descended from Cain, who's father was Satan. Therefore all non-Jews are half-human, half-demon. Jews believe they are descended from Adam and his third son Seth, and therefore are directly from God, and significantly superior to non-Jews.

    Hence:

Gematria - (Jewish mystic way of interpreting the Torah (1st 5 books of the Bible) We are the fatal and vital ones of the world - (Jewish mystic belief) And we will burn burn your cities down - (Jewish commandment)

It's about the US bombing the shit out of other countries and proving that killing in the name of christianity or god is just stupid.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
