"Something Is Not Right with Me" as written by and Jonathan Russell Matthew Aveiro....
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
How was I supposed to know?
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Tryin' not to let it show!
I tried to call you collect
You said you would not accept
Your friends are laughin' cause
Nobody uses pay phones
Gave me quarters to select
So I'm on the jukebox again
People dancin'
Shoulda never chose "Girlfriend"
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
How was I supposed to know?
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
I'm trying not to let it show!
Crash into the people who're
Sleepin' late into the evening
Reach behind they can hardly find their spines
Crash into the people who're
Sleepin' late into the evening
Reach behind they can hardly find their spines
Crash into the people who're
Sleepin' late into the evening
Reach behind they can hardly find their spines
You said you too like old cars
I bought a beat up brown Dodge
It was smoking but it died in your front yard
You follow whose dating who
But, but when it comes to you
One is pulled a dozen
Different ways in the mind
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
How was I supposed to know?
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
I'm tryin' not to let it show!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
How was I supposed to know?
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Something is not right with me!
Tryin' not to let it show!
I tried to call you collect
You said you would not accept

You guys always think a song is either about being gay or about drugs. There's more to life, ya know? I think y'all have been brainwashed by Mom, Dad and the Mass Media.
That said, this song isn't particularly deep or anything. Still a good song, tho.
'Girlfriend' is one of the greatest power pop songs of all time. It's the title track of the f'n brilliant 1991 Matthew Sweet album. The real beauty/passion of the song is in the guitars so, if you wanna relate, you should hear it -- not just read the lyrics.
-------
I want to love somebody
I hear you need somebody to love
I want to love somebody
I hear you're looking for someone to love
'Cause you need to
Be back in the arms of a good friend
And I need to
Be back in the arms of a girlfriend
I didn't know nobody
And then I saw you coming my way
I didn't know nobody
And then I saw you coming my way
Don't you need to
Be back in the arms of a good friend
Oh 'cause honey believe me
I'd sure love to call you my girlfriend
****snip****
And I'm never gonna set you free
No, I'm never gonna set you free

Dude is saying that he played the song "Girlfriend" on the jukebox.
I like how this little song is so uptempo and humorous, it makes me smile. I've always seen CWK as a very down-to-earth band too, quite old fashioned in a way, so maybe it could be applied to them generally favouring substance over style and not trying to be something they're not.
What's with the beginning though? It sounds like some French techno stuff going on.
totally remind me of an old friend who always use collect calls :D
bring back memories...good old days lol
can't wait for the rest of the album
great 2nd record
