Long Hallway With a Broken Light Lyrics
White lines that never fade
Burn deep with everyday
And I need to know
You live here in a photograph
No sound and no regrets
And I need to know
Heart-stained but never weak
You lay down alone but you don't mind
Questions that never breathe
Your face on a wall that I can't shake
I'm walking on air, close to you
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive
You hold me like a bag of bones
Wrapped up and underground
Pull me out so I can feel
Make me believe, that one more night's
Not a minute too long when a moment's all I need
I'm walking on air, close to you
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive
You'll marry the night
Dance with the pain but you don't mind
See the city burn tonight, hearts up in flames
Would you carry me away?
I'm walking on air, close to you
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive
Burn deep with everyday
And I need to know
No sound and no regrets
And I need to know
You lay down alone but you don't mind
Questions that never breathe
Your face on a wall that I can't shake
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive
Wrapped up and underground
Pull me out so I can feel
Make me believe, that one more night's
Not a minute too long when a moment's all I need
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive
Dance with the pain but you don't mind
See the city burn tonight, hearts up in flames
Would you carry me away?
Through a long hallway with a broken light
And I, I need to know
If you're still alive

I think through all the figurative language it just comes down to someone in a relationship/friendship and they are questioning the other person. They want to know if their friend is headed in the right direction - if they know what's best for themselves. Later in the song it also seems like they question whether their friend is even still there for them. Just wanting the best for your friend but also wondering if they are still 100% genuine and there for you til the end like you'd be for them.
To me the meaning of the song is obvious: it is a story of a man and a woman; the relationship ended for some inevitable reason ("white lines that never fade" - that means that one of them, either the boy of the girl, either attempted suicide or was a cutter; I assume its the latter, because of the line "Dance with the pain that you don't mind"); mostly the song is about a boy thinking about his strong-willed, long-lost lover just hoping that she's okay, because that's a sign of true love, even if you're not together you want the other person to be happy and alive and that's all that really matters. This phrase ("You'll marry the night Dance with the pain but you don't mind See the city burn tonight, hearts up in flames Would you carry me away?" means that the girl was involved with something dark, like the reason Rachel couldn't stay with Bruce Wayne (Bruce is Batman), so maybe the girl is a vigilante and the scars aren't self-inflicted but by criminals, that would make sense with the lyrics as well); also this line )Heart-stained but never weak You lay down alone but you don't mind") suggests that the female is a loner but doesn't mind being alone because she needs to in order to be who she is (vigilante or cutter or even both)...so yeah that's my interpretation....the boy couldn't stay with the girl because of her dark, wild, deep lifestyle but he still cares for her and loves her and just wants to see her again and know that she's still being who she is and doing what she loves. Hope my interpretation wasn't too radical but then again I don't care about stupid taboos so what I'll say what I want! (:
