Substantial and Nujabes
Still doing this
Yeah

Sorry love
Sorry love
Sorry love
But it seems like it isn't in the cards for us

Meeting you is a blessing, see
Sorry, sweetheart we can never be
The little things you do be impressing me
Still, baby girl, we can never be
You only want one night of ecstasy
Thanks but no thanks it can never be
'Cause I got a wife at home that I'm blessed to keep
And to fool around with you would be the death of me
Can't add no ingredients to the recipe
'Cause it isn't fair to you nor fair to me
And more importantly
It sure isn't fair to her
Guess we might've had chance before I married her
'Cause wifey is worth more than life to me
A soulmate
Who am I to control fate?
'Cause somebody like you is much more than cut buddy
But I can't give you all the things that you want from me
So...

We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
But it seems like it isn't in the cards for us
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
But it seems like it isn't in the cards for us

I know you think I'll be the perfect man
But it seems like at most I had other plans
Sounds no better than my brotha man
Can't run around like Mr. Lover Man
Tryin' to maintain
Spend the rest of life with the same dame
That's right, uh
Found the right one
Sounds like fun
But I ain't this and that
'Cause if I lose her slim chance I'll get her back
This is real life
This ain't cinemax
Tryin' get my little seats filled
People feelin' packed
On these hardwood floors
On this house we own
They get hot, we know
But it's not for show
Not that anything's the matter with you
But there's no guarantee that I'm compatible with you
And I can't make you into something you're not
Know people look around for what they already got
So...

I ain't tryin' to
Waste your time, boo
I know you've been stepped on
And been lied to
God bless the next man who's lucky to find you
It's hard to sever ties
But, baby, I got to
Uh, that's the way it is
I know you don't know what to think of this
And I'm really sorry that it came to this
Feels like an endless break it is
'Cause I think it's easier that way
That's passe
And it hurts like a bad date
And the pressure is enough to make a back break
But to lead you on would be mad fake
So do your thing, baby
I'll do mine
Don't worry 'bout me, girl
I'll be fine
This is all my fault
I'm too kind
And a decent human being's hard to find

We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
But it seems like it isn't in the cards for us
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
We can't be, we won't be
Sorry love
But it seems like it isn't in the cards for us

    Song Meaning

Cool, first comment. But i'm surprised, this is a song with so much emotion and meaning that not one person has yet to comment on such an amazing song. The song is very self explanatory though, it's about a guy who's telling a girl that fell in love with him, that's it's not and never will happen because he's married to the girl that he loves the most. He wants this girl to know that he wants what's best for her, to find true love, and that she deserves the best, but he's also saying that he can't be that person. He's already found true love and chooses to remain and be forever faithful to his true love.

This was my first time submitting my opinion of the song. This is by far one of my favorite Nujabes songs because of the meaning behind it. I have never been in a relationship, but I truly believe i'm one of those people who choose to remain faithful to someone they love. It's hard to find someone you would truly love, If you got the chance of finally being with them, Why would you ruin it by fooling around with someone who doesn't mean anything to you? That's my opinion at least.

BTW, this was my first song meaning comment, Take care n_n

this is one of my favorite songs, but the lyrics had some mistakes, for example:

MEETING you is a blessing see Sorry, sweetheart we can never be The little things you do, be IMPRESSING me Still, baby girl, we can never be

Can't ADD NO ingredients TO the recipe

'Cause somebody like you is much more than CUT buddy

I know you think I'll be the perfect man But it seems like AT most I HAD OTHER PLANS

God bless the next man who's lucky to find you It's hard to SEVER ties But, baby, I got to

the instrumental is hands down, one of the most emotionally soothing beats ive ever heard, (and my music library consist of over 100GB of musics) its simple, looped, but so perfectly made, this just goes to show you less is more. Nujabes (the producer) did this incredible job, and im not surprise (R.I.P. Nujabes) ive always loved his production, as for substatial (the rapper), theirs something about his music, thats so mellow and soothing most of the times, his concepts are always on point, and he doesnt jump around topics, now his way of writing all his emotions down with ink is very noticeable in his lyrics, im not surprise seeing as he is a member of the QN5 Lable.

This songs alot older than a year old. But I feel that this is just a glimpse that shows Substantials extreme love for women.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
