The Fallen Lyrics

Get me out of here.
This isn’t slowing down.
We’ve hit black ice and lost control.
We’re spinning faster now.
Tell me are we flying? Are we falling to the ground?
If tomorrow doesn’t come, did we die for nothing?

Recounting past events has helped reveal that you don’t give a damn about the days when you would live the words you wrote.
Not the person who you were; I hate the person you’ve become.
You inspired. Now expired, it has died for nothing.

Some stop feeling love for all the places they come from.
A person I will not become.
A jaded liar, unforgivable.

Some stop feeling love for every word that they once sung.
May I never lose my youth and If I do, may I be forgettable.

This is the fallen.

But I can't stop feeling love for this place we both came from. and I will never lose my youth.
All of this is too unforgettable.

You said you started up this home because you didn't like the way these kinds of things were run.
You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow.
If you had then where were you?
We've payed our dues without you.

Am I the only one who sees all of the deceit and festering hypocrisy?
Don’t ever talk to me like you think you know me or what I've been through.
I am nothing like you!

This is the last time you will have us.
You're lawless and purely dishonest.
A scandal that we have funded for you.
Make no mistake this all is about you.

No, we never knew.
Don't buy what they sell you.
Hear what I tell you.
Don't buy what they sell you.

This is an amazing song and there are only 2 comments... What I'm getting from this song is kinda like don't forget where you came from, and what you have. Always be true to yourself and don't take yourself so seriously because life is too short for you to be sitting around doing nothing. Don't buy into the propaganda.

This Song Is About Eulogy Records Losing Interest In Them, Even Though They Obviously Thrived As A Band. Thats Why Their Tour Manager Bought Out Of Their Contract With Eulogy: Because He Has Faith In Them As A Great Band.

But Set Your Goals Went Out In Style, The Classy Way. They Dont Hate Eulogy For Almost Dropping The Ball On Them, Just Disappointed. Thats Why They Wrote A Song Saying They,"Can Stop Feeling Love For This Place They Both Came From."

Mad Respect To SYG. They Were Never The Type To Talk Shit, Just Say When They Dont Agree.

This might be completely wrong, but I think this song is about Peter Pan in the movie Hook. They have a very good reason to write a song about it too because they are obsessed with pirates. I think this song is about how Peter Pan grew up and forgot about being a young kid in neverland and how he went against everything he swore not to do as a kid. Here are some lyrical clues.

"Tell me are we flying? Are we falling to the ground? If tomorrow doesn’t come, did we die for nothing?"- in the movie when he is learning to fly he falls continuously until he remembers how to and he went into the alternate realm of neverland and if he doesnt save his kids he isnt sure what is going to happen.

"You said you started up this home because you didn't like the way these kinds of things were run. You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow. If you had then where were you? We've payed our dues without you."-This shows how when neverland was first created peter lead them all as the head lost boy but he swore he would never grow up and he did which shows how they carried on without him and followed rufio the new head lost boy.

"Some stop feeling love for all the places they come from. A person I will not become. A jaded liar, unforgivable.

Some stop feeling love for every word that they once sung. May I never lose my youth and If I do, may I be forgettable."- Shows how he lost his love and passion for neverland which was where he came from and that he lost his youth by leaving and they all forgot about him. He was a jaded liar that they could not forgive.

"Am I the only one who sees all of the deceit and festering hypocrisy? Don’t ever talk to me like you think you know me or what I've been through. I am nothing like you!" again shows the disapproval of his return by the lost boys who he abandon.

"But I can't stop feeling love for this place we both came from. and I will never lose my youth. All of this is too unforgettable." shows how in the end he finally remembers how to fly and remembers all of his times with the lost boys.

Its probably wrong but its just a theory because i know they love pirates and when i heard the line "You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow." i thought he said crow instead of grow and i know in hook the lost boys all knew how to crow and this is what lead me to think this theory of the song. either way this song fucking kicks ass and i can't wait until the new album comes out. fuck yeah!

LOL. Your interpretation is funny to me, inuredbass. You could be right, I'm not sure exactly what they mean, but some of the references seem way more personal (from what I know about the band members).

Specificall:

"You said you started up this home because you didn't like the way these kinds of things were run. You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow. If you had then where were you? We've payed our dues without you."

Think "Latch key" ;)

However, with that being said, do I detect a bit of disdain...

Not Valid

Scratch that. After reading the lyrics again, I think The Catalyst is right. It is about Eulogy.

Not Valid

I don't think you are right, it seems to be about Eulogy, but I have to give you mad props on this one. That was a great interpretation even if it's not how they meant it.

My English teachers always say when analyzing poetry, it doesn't matter what the author meant, it's how it affects the reader. If you can back up an interpretation, who cares if you interpretted it exactly the way it was meant.

Its about how they signed to Eulogy Records and how the owner, John Wylie, has been taking untold amounts of money from their earnings while they dont get to see a dime of it.

John started Eulogy because he didnt think other labels really knew what it was like to be in a band, "You said you started up this home because you didn't like the way these kinds of things were run. You've said you understand the work it takes to make us grow."

They also dont want people buying anything from Eulogy Records because of their outrageous profit margin, "No, we never knew. Don't buy what they sell you. Hear what I tell you. Don't buy what they sell you."

"This is the last time you will have us. You're lawless and purely dishonest. A scandal that we have funded for you. Make no mistake this all is about you." A goodbye to Eulogy Records.

IMO

Matt Wilson: It's not about eulogy records specifically. its about the people in music who arent doing what theyre doing for the right reasons. People who take advantage of people to further their careers or make money off them - which they may or may not deserve - and our stance on that.

"Never have heroes, become your own hero." B-E-A-UTIFUL!

Matt: "This song is about placing your complete trust in someone who has the most important part of your life in their hands and the harsh learning experience you can endure as a result of that trust. As a band we have encountered some people we've looked up to with a great amount of respect long before meeting them only to find that respect to be unshared, and a lack of reciprocation in the sincerity and commitment we'd invested in them developed, as we watched them fall from grace before our eyes. In doing so, their true intentions were unmasked. It hurts to learn that someone who once lived up to a high set of moral values proves only to let you down in a matter you would have never thought imaginable. Sometimes first impressions can be quite deceiving. There is a lesson to be learned in all of this: Never place anyone on a pedestal, peel away the facade and see people for what they really are. Never have heroes, become your own hero."
