The speed's working, I see it
In everyone
Like a lost idea
Under light bulb sun
Your eyes are ready for takeoff
Melts in your head
What a beautiful state
We are in

The jailors in my mind
Are all dead
I love you so much
Never forget
All of our secrets
Coming undone
What a beautiful state
We are in

Goodnight another bad morning
Goodnight another bad morning
Goodnight another bad morning
Goodnight another bad morning

Goodnight, another bad
Goodnight, another bad
Goodnight, another bad
Goodnight another bad morning

I love this song. The album booklet lyrics are actually:

The speed's working, I see it In everyone Like a lost idea Under lightbulb sun Your eyes, ready for take off Melt in your head What a beautiful state We are in

The jailers in my mind Are all dead I love you so much Never Forget All of our secrets Are coming undone What a beautiful state We are in

Goodnight, another bad morning Goodnight, another bad morning Goodnight, another bad morning Goodnight, another bad morning Goodnight, another bad morning Goodnight (another bad) Goodnight (another bad) Goodnight (another bad) Goodnight, another bad morning

I think its about ending a bad day by spending the night with the one you love Forgetting about the hardships that happened earlier and being happy and relaxed with them Is cheesy really but like all The Kills lyrics its beautiful :)

if it's really "speed", i think it'd be probably about the morning after all these drugs, when you're feeling depressed because you need more drugs and you know you can't have 'em. it would fit with some lines like "what a beautiful state we are in", or "i love you so much, never forget", because this is the feeling the drug gives you... and then "goodnight, another bad morning" because they know it's going to be a hard morning without drugs. i don't know.

the bad morning, to them, are when they spend the day bullshitting eachother to be polite, but when it's over, they see eachother for what they are-their flaws exposed, so, in short, the state they are in is reality.

I think it's about holding on to a moment, wishing that it won't ever pass. there are those moments, where you, besides all the crap that happened on that day, that happened in your life, that's happening constantly all around the world, can simply enjoy the moment, the state you're in. So it's a good night. But another back moment when you realize that all that crap is still there, you just forgot it for a second.

in detail, I think it's about the moments before falling asleep next to someone you care. "The speed" refers not to speed, the drug, but to something like "spirit". Eyes are "ready for take of" - for me that indicates tiredness, especially because they "melt" in the head, which could also be a metaphor for tears either.

"the jailers" in her mind are all dead, meaning there's nothing restraining her, controlling her, limiting her. there's love and honesty in this moment, so goodnight - enjoy this moment, another bad morning and the crap every day carries will surely come.

This song is about drugs alright, but not for the reasons all the above comments claim.

This song describes getting busted by the police. In her case, sounds like it's her first time. She knew it was coming sooner or later, but it's not the way she imaged.

The speed's working, I see it = yeah, speed tends to really hit another level as soon as you see the cop lights flashing. It's also distracts you, which is probably why they've been caught.

Under light bulb sun = again, anyone who's been busted, knows exactly what this lyric is describing. That annoying light they shine is as bright as the sun and anyone within ten feet, can see who they're shining it on..you! And your eyes feel like they're actually melting into your head.

The jailer in my mind are all dead = the way you imagine how police act in your head is a lot different from reality. They are cunning, and many times they try to trick you into admitting to more wrongdoing than what they discover.

All of our secrets are coming undone = telling the cops jack squat. Secrets undone, as in safe and sound. Or he's implementing himself to make her charges less serious.

What a beautiful state we're in = you look pathetic and feel pathetic too. *Double meaning here...could also mean state trooper car.

Taking speed makes you stay up all night. Sometimes the mornings aren't great. In this case, the morning has been really bad.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
