"Holy Dances" as written by and Alex Kristian Scally Victoria Garance Alixe Legrand....
In the night, I called your name
Heart of mine, one letter at a time
I'll be found in a land of savages

Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

Baby, you don't know what you've got
Spent your money on the desert lot
Holy dances and acronyms for her

Bury your maps, they'll take all your pots and pans
Cross all your hands, one finger at a time
You'll be found in a land of savages

Ah, ah, ah, ah

Baby, you don't know what you've got
Husk to hide, and I know you're not
Spending money on a desert rose
Holy dances and acronyms for bones

General CommentHer voice is so ghostly, so full of longing, in this song, especially the opening lines. It gives my heart a case of the haunted butterflies, if you know what I mean.

General CommentI could be wrong, but I feel like this song partially maps onto the film Paris, Texas. The protagonist, Travis, spends his money on a desert lot. He doesn't remember why he bought it, but he carries a polaroid of it and is trying to find it as the film opens, wandering mutely through the desert. He associates it with his past life and ex-wife, both of which he is obliquely trying to return to via bleak stretches of land, to a parcel of land that is itself vacant.
