    I think its more about you have a first love, but even after years go by, you still have that same fresh feeling, and she doesn't want to! so she's saying " forgive me first love" because she still loves you, she just needs to see what else is out there for her. but the first love will always have that affect on her...it speaks my life LOL.

It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
