It seems all of these words couldn't be further from the truth
How did I get here? What did I do?

Your eyes, telling me lies
And making me find myself
While you have your agenda, a life to pursue

So please,
Let me be free from you.
And please, let me be free
I can face the truth.

I'm blind to all of your colors
That used to be rainbow then
My eyes, where did they go to?
Why disappear?

It's hard to be all alone
I never got through your disguise
I guess I'll just go, and face all my fear

So please,
Let me be free from you
And please, let me be free
I can face the truth.

Put down your world
Just for one night
Pick me again

So please,
Let me be free from you
And please, let me be free
I can face the truth.

wow i can't wait for the album to come out. to me, this song is about the relationship failing too many times, and the person whos singing is just saying, let me be free, and i'll live my life. tell me you don't love me, i can handle the truth. and about the blind to all your colors, that used to be rainbows then part, to me its like i don't know who you are anymore. i can relate to this cd so much.

I think it's about a partner who has ambitions for their life, and they've put relationship priorities aside for them. They lied to the narrator about wanting him more than anything.

He'd rather end it now then being in a torturing relationship where he cares way more than the other person. And now, he doesn't can't get himself to his partner like he used to, because of all that wasn't true. He can't see the rainbow anymore, so even if things did change, he wouldn't be able to put it behind him.

I meant to say "and now, he can't get himself to see his partner like he used to..."

I forgot to mention, I'm afraid of becoming the 'other' person in this song. I think that's why it really hit home for me.

wow i didn't realize this song was only a month old. this is a really sweet song

i think it's about a relationship, and about the other person going off to college...different job.. a seperate way or something, and that they think the relationship is ending and it doesn't have the new-love spark anymore. and they think they're faking it and the person just wants it to end rather than going on through the pain and lies. yeah.. it kinda says it right there

it's scary because i'm sure a lot of people relate to this song right when they read it

maybe it's about a relationship that already ended, and he's just kinda talking to himself in his sadness. Thus, you know when you still love someone, and you are not anymore with her, and you kinda talk to yourself, like, please please, let me be free from you so i can move on. I hope you guys can understand what I mean. It's the phase, where you can't move on, because the only thing in your mind is the girl, and you're kinda trying to be free from her to really move on with your life, and probably to be able to love again someday.

i also agree with yoga1978. he's saying that he still truly loves the girl but he wants desperately to move on with his life and be happy. he figures if he says it enough, he can be free from her. i feel the same way... you know? you're still in love with that one person who broke your heart? i tell myself every single time i think about him or see him, "i will move on. i will move on. there are better people." after awhile, you start to believe it... slowly but surely, my feelings for him will completely be gone... i really hope so... so i can very much so relate to this song. it has a very very beautiful meaning.

I think this song is about this girl who just lies to him about his talent to make him happy. She herself is too busy with her own life, and just agrees with everything he says, instead of listening to him and thinking about the consequences. Therefore he goes down the wrong path of life cause thinking he would be appreciated. However, he now realises that she lied to him to make him happy. He has now lost all respect for her, however still loves her. At the end he says 'put down your world' meaning that he just wants her to properly care about him and for her to enjoy every moment of life instead of rushing ahead. He wants the love that they shared before, but he wants to be 'free' from all the lies she had said before as he doesn't need to be protected from the harsh realities of the world.

I guess I take this song a different way...

It seems to me, he likes this girl But she's sending mixed signals "Your eyes, telling me lies" And the whole thing about her being occupied by other things could also be true

And he's going to face his fears and find out how she truly feels Setting him free from being left wondering Free from having her on his mind He just wants the truth "I Can Face The Truth"

IDK, maybe its just personal experience that makes me see it that way...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
