So here we stand tonight
The same sight of another weekend plight
I look at you through your eyes
What’s going on in there?
Still, silent demands
I’ll need more then a bland suggestive stance
Warning me to kiss you fast
This time I better make it last (so long)
Cause our kisses cure all cancers (make it last)

Admit that we both know
This is our antidote
Let’s hold on to our hearts
And let our pride go

So dry your eyes my dear
You’d think that I collected tears
Filling up salty seas
With buckets under glassy stares
Recollect old times
Shy nights with butterflies inside
Now lean in like you used to
Tonight I’m gonna make it last (so long)
Cause our kisses cure all cancers (make it last)

Admit that we both know
This is our antidote
Let’s hold on to our hearts
And let our pride go
This is the only way to feel your face
and lay you softly to sleep

(last so long)
Our kisses cure all cancers (make it last)

Admit that we both know
This is our antidote
Let’s hold on to our hearts
And let our pride go
This is the only way to feel your face
and lay you softly to sleep

We beat out all the rest
We kiss like nobodies business
Our fumes in full regress
We kiss like nobodies business

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
