I can see
See you there
Hanging weightless in the air
Wind and sunlight in your hair
I can see you
I can see you there

Your olive skin
Your secret smile
Betrayed again a secret island in your mind
Lost forever
Lost before your time

Who is to say?
Who is to know the truth?
And who is there left
When nothing they said can save you

Broken glass
A bleeding wrist
A second chance for a simple kiss
I waited for you at the edge
Could you take such a risk?

On your knees, on your back
Who'd you call when things got bad?
Did they answer?
Did you ask?
'Cause I would answer
I would tell you this

Who is to say?
Who is to know the truth?
When no one is left
And nothing they said can save you

Who is to say?
Who is to blame?
And who will you give yourself to?
'Cause nobody wants you more than I want you

Who is to say?
Who is to blame?
'Cause nobody wants you like I do

I finally realize this song is not about suicide. It's about a girl sabotaging what could be a wonderful relationship because of emotional insecurity.

The song begins with a man's view of how beautiful he sees her. Her forced smile betrays what she is feeling, and he can see through it. She won't tell him or anyone else what troubles her.

He reminds her that he stayed and he waited for her to understand that he wanted her despite her insecurities. He is troubled that she screams for help, but never actually asks for it. He reminds her again that should she ask, he would answer and he would tell her everything that he feels again and again.

The lyrics here are wrong, at least how he sings them.

"Cause nobody wants more than I want you", the phrasing is profound. Nobody wants for anything or anyone more absolutely than he wants for her. There is no desire that exists in the world that is stronger than his desire to be with her.

I love this song it rips my heart every time I listen to it. I think it means he is in love with someone and he hasn't told her and doesn't know if she feels the same and who ca he blame for falling for her and of course nobody wants her as much as he does

    My Opinion

I just heard this song for the first time today and it reminded me so much of my husband that i had to get an account on this site just to write this....

I can see See you there Hanging weightless in the air Wind and sunlight in your hair I can see you I can see you there

---This part means to me obviously that I see my husband out there in the world, standing there (hanging there)

Your olive skin Your secret smile Betrayed again a secret island in your mind Lost forever Lost before your time

Who is to say? Who is to know the truth? And who is there left When nothing they said can save you

---Betrayed again a secret island in your mind Lost forever Lost before your time.....means he lost his perfect place, he lost his sanity, hes to young to lose his mind

Who knows the truth about him?? hes in a mental hospital right now but whos left when what they do/say cant help him??? when i cant help him??

Broken glass A bleeding wrist A second chance for a simple kiss I waited for you at the edge Could you take such a risk?

--- this part... my husband cut himself, glass was broken on our bathroom floor. he was alive for a another chance to kiss.. i am waiting for him at the edge... i want him to take the risk or living life. life is hard no matter what.

On your knees, on your back Who'd you call when things got bad? Did they answer? Did you ask? 'Cause I would answer I would tell you this

--- he was found laying on the bathroom floor.. i could be asking him who he called ..he doesnt know it but when he started losing his mind that day he secretly called me & i called our close friend and then authorities were called to save him from himself. I answered him and I hope he knows that.

Who is to say? Who is to blame? And who will you give yourself to? 'Cause nobody wants you more than I want you

---Who is to blame???? i think no one & everyone(hope you can understand that) .. its just pressures of life.. there is only so much someone can handle.. everyone has different pressure levels.. and who will he end up giving himself to?? I hope me because I love him so much.. him and our kids are my heart and soul and nobody wants him more than I do!

I mean, I might be way off, but I understood this song to be about a woman the singer loves committing suicide.

"Hanging weightless in the air, Wind and sunlight in your hair," -- this imagery reminded me of an angel, like he sees her in that way, now that she's gone.

"Lost forever, Lost before your time" -- meaning she killed herself at an early age.

"Broken glass, A bleeding wrist" -- I heard this as she slit her wrists.

And then, the song goes on to discuss blame and such. I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy.

    My Interpretation

While I do see the suicide, I think it is about one man's absolute love for a girl. She has been to the edge, maybe threatened suicide, but he stood by her no matter what. Even if no one will be there for her, he will always. As for the "Weightless" and the part of her hanging in the air, I do not believe that is physical. Rather, she is floating around, bouncing around from one guy to another. He wants to bring her down to him, because he is the only one that can love her as much as he does

It actually is about the Band's singer gf Committing suicide.

"Lost forever Lost before your time"

Pretty clear cut. Forever is impossible so long as your alive. This was just his way to deal with the effect of Suicide. everyone falls in to the trap of Why then blaming them selves or others. he's trying to handle the bat shit insanity of a puzzle left that no one can answer and thats "why?"

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
