He broke my heart
And now it's raining
Just to rub it in
I'm at your door
I feel so crazy 'bout it

You'll say I told you so
You saw it long ago
You knew he had to go
I finally came around
I'm back on solid ground
Can't let it get me down

Naw
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
It's alright
(It's alright) yeah
(It's alright) yeah
(It's alright)

Yes, I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned, so I call it a lesson learned
My soul has returned, so I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Sometimes, some lies
Can take a minute to fully realize
His tears, your eyes
Thirty seconds to apologize

You give it one more chance
Just like the time before
But he already knows
you'd give a hundred more
Until that night in bed
You wake up in a sweat
You're racing to the door
Can't take it anymore

I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned, so I called it a lesson learned
Whoa, my soul has returned, so I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned

Life perfect
Ain't perfect if you don't know what the struggle's for
Falling down ain't falling down
If you don't cry when you hit the floor
It's called the past 'cause I'm getting past
And I ain't nothing like I was before
You ought to see me now

Yes, I was burned but I called it a lesson learned
Mistake overturned, so I called it a lesson learned
Oh, my soul has returned, so I call it a lesson learned
Another lesson learned, whoa

Sayin' yes I was burned but I called it a lesson learned (it's alright, it's alright)
Said mistake overturned so I call it a lesson learned (it's alright, it's a lesson learned)
My soul has returned so I call it lesson learned (it's alright, it's alright)
Oh lesson learned

Oh (it's alright)
(It's a lesson learned) lesson learned
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
(It's a lesson learned)
(It's alright)
(It's alright)
(It's alright)

One of my favorite tracks from her As I Am album. The additional vocals with John Mayer sounds good in this song too. =]

    the lyrics are wrong

"Sometimes some flies can take a minute to fully realize."

This song's awesome One of my fav's off the album. Best bit is 'You give it one more chance, Just like the time before. But he already know, You'd give a hundred more' Without a doubt. I think it's about making mistakes and now knowing more than you did before.

First, I have to say, two of my favorite artists doing a song together= pure win.

"It's called the past, cause I'm getting past And I ain't nothing like I was before. You ought to see me now." THAT is a great line. "I've made msitakes, but I'm stronger for them," basically. And I adore Mayer's backgorund "It's alright." It's like that friend who's always there, even after you do something stupid.

    Sweet music. :)

Least Ammount of comments but probably one of the deepest songs that alicia has written. I believe that this song is a window into what she has been through- and recently.

The song i feel tells the story of a girl(alicia) coming to terms with the end of a very important relationship. She was in a relationship for a long period of time, one she thought would never come to an end. But despite her efforts to keep the relationship together things just ultimately fell apart. Consistantly she gave the other a try- yet it seems she was the only one taking the relationship seriously. I believe she just came to terms with the fact that it wasnt ment to be and that she could just take the experience as a lesson that she could use in future relationships. Im pretty sure she went to a friend for comfort- someone who she trusted completely. That person telling her that they sensed that the person was not the one for her and that it had been building up to the point of falling apart. The line about it "raining" i feel symbolizes her crying rather than rain it self. John mayer's line "its alright" repeated symbolizes her telling herself and others telling her that it would be ok and she could over come the obsitcle of a broken heart.

Definately the best of alicia. I hope shes doing much better now.

This song is quite clever. Helped me through a bad breakup. Anyway, the initial part of the song is her singing she realizes the decision had to be made and the relationship had to end. Her friend is comforting her, saying it's alright. And yes, evidently it is about realizing that after enough sacrifices you have to let go for whatever reason, and emerge a winner, better than the relationship.

    Thanks Alicia.

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
