Show me something good
That’s still worth fighting for
I’m not quite sure how
You survive the storms
Inside of your soul
And ever since the start of this
I turn to you when I need something more
Than this empty road
That I follow

So can I just hold onto you tonight?
So can I just hold onto you and make this right?
I’ll take apart what is left and leave it
I’ve come to see that I’ll never make it on my own

I can’t imagine all the things
That haunt your head when you lay in bed
And you try to find a reason to stay here
Ever since the start of this
I never knew the right thing to say to you
The right way to help you through

So can I just hold onto you tonight?
So can I just hold onto you and make this right?
I’ll take apart what is left and leave it
I’ve come to see that I’ll never make it on my own

Hey, I know it’s hard for you to believe
But if you leave I’ll lose everything I really need
Everything that helps me breath
Hey, I know you’re barely hanging on
But even with your weathered heart
I know you’ll walk into this storm ahead of me

But can I just hold onto you tonight?
Can I just hold onto you and make this right?
Can I just hold onto you tonight?
Can I just hold onto you and make this right?
I’ll take apart what is left and leave it
I’ve come to see that I’ll never make it on my own
On my own

i see it as like wanting to help someone you love through something so hard for them but you can't reach them, and also at the same time you feel like you need them yourself or you can't survive. its hard to explain but i've felt it. i'd write a long comment to explain but i hate long comments haha.

It's about a relationship that's very fragile and it's about to fall a part. The the guy must've done something wrong because the girl is haunted by past experiences of some sort. I'm guessing the guy thought he could live a happy life, but now he see's that without her he cannot live his happy life. And now all he wants to do is just hold her tight and never let go...

It is about a reltaionship that didn't work out, and the guy took the goodparts and left the old. the guy feels bad for leaving the girl, but he realizes he can't make it on his own, and he found someone else.

i think its th first one 'xiripx' his one.

Hey, I know it’s hard for you to believe But if you leave I’ll lose everything I really need Everything that helps me breath Hey, I know you’re barely hanging on But even with your weathered heart I know you’ll walk into this storm ahead of me

by those lines it seems like the guy isnt showingthe girl he loves her enough, and hes saying that although it may not seem it. She means the world to him and he needs her.

'And you try to find a reason to stay here Ever since the start of this I never knew the right thing to say to you The right way to help you through'

it also seems that he feels like he doesnt treat her well enough tat she should even stay around. but he's greatful that she does.

    amazing song i love it

Well, I agree with "xiripx" as well. But I think that the guy probably cheated on her. And the cheating, and reality of her leaving him makes him realize he truly loves her.

no i believe, neigh, i am 100% certain, this song in some parts talks of himself (for example, "I'm not quite sure how you survive the storms inside of your soul" speaks of himself) but whom he is asking and begging to use as a foundation in his rough days is his best friend, not some ex girlfriend who he cheated on. sometimes you need to know the author to understand the meaning.

I think this song is about somone who's cause him a lot of pain yet he always comes to her no matter what because in the end he always will still care about her, and it kills him that they're having trouble and he doesnt want to fight through it, he wants to lay there with her and feel right instead of constantly feeling this pain and worry of them never being able to have feelings for eachother. and when he finally is feeling fed up he realizes the only way he's ever really going to get over this is if he leaves her, and its the only way he can feel better about things. basically, she is the thrill in his life. its just a troubled relationship and they're realizing they need to end things and find their way out although they both love eachother. I dont really know but thats my guess. it probably sucked

I think this is about loving someone who is depressed and can't go on. Simple as that. The artist feels that there's nothing he could do about his depressed lover except to say that, "Hey, you can make it. Stay strong because I love you." I don't think there is any other deeper meaning to this song than that.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
