As I peel away
All the years of pain
I discovered what's been all along
You were so right
I was so wrong

Every shooting star
They all fall so hard
They all fade like a played out song
Now is the time
Before all is lost

I'm coming home
I'm coming home

So I'm coming home
Lost on a road I don't belong
I'll rest my song
I'm so alone
Far from the streets I call my own
I'm coming home

Rushing back to me
As the city sleeps
So afraid of what I will find

Memories they haunt
From deep inside

Every broken man
Comes to understand
that he'll never find paradise
When all that he wants
Was there all the time

I'm coming home
I'm coming home

So I'm coming home
Lost on a road I don't belong
I'll rest my song
I'm so alone
Far from the streets I call my own

So I'm coming home
Back to a world left long ago
And now I know
I'm coming home
I'll find my way back
I'm letting go
I'm coming home

We come to find
What we take for granted
Keeps us alive in the end

So don't let time
Leave you empty handed
Reach out tonight and make amends

So I'm coming home
Back to the place where I belong
I'll rest my song
I'm so alone
Far from the streets I call my own

So I'm coming home
Back to a world left long ago
Now I know
I'm coming home
I'll find my way back
I'm coming home
I'm coming home

I teach/chair a Christian 12 Step group and use music to reach people. Coming Home was a perfect fit.

    Coming Home

As I peel away All the years of pain I discovered what's been all along You were so right I was so wrong

Admitting that there is a problem. That God is right and you are wrong. Only He can restore you.

Every shooting star They all fall so hard They all fade like a played out song Now is the time Before all is lost I'm coming home I'm coming home So I'm coming home Lost on a road I don't belong I'll rest my song I'm so alone Far from the streets I call my own

    I'm coming home

I imagine the Prodigal on the walk home. He has given up, put down his wandering song, but still must travel that humbling journey home.

Rushing back to me As the city sleeps So afraid of what I will find Memories they haunt From deep inside

All the things that drag us under, that hinder our progress home; fear. In the dark hours, all alone the accuser tries to crush us. What if those that we return to do not accept us back?

Every broken man Comes to understand that he'll never find paradise When all that he wants Was there all the time

I'm coming home I'm coming home

So I'm coming home Lost on a road I don't belong I'll rest my song I'm so alone Far from the streets I call my own

So I'm coming home Back to a world left long ago And now I know I'm coming home I'll find my way back I'm letting go I'm coming home

Triumphant declaration; "Now I know, I'm coming Home, I'll find my way back!"

We come to find What we take for granted Keeps us alive in the end

God is our source, we live breathe, and move in Him and He in us.

So don't let time Leave you empty handed Reach out tonight and make amends

Make amends to the King. NOW! He RUNS to meet you!

So I'm coming home Back to the place where I belong I'll rest my song I'm so alone Far from the streets I call my own

So I'm coming home Back to a world left long ago Now I know I'm coming home I'll find my way back I'm coming home I'm coming home

This one of the best songs I've ever heard. I think the main idea is that: there is no place like home.

i think it's about someone who becomes ready for his death in a night, how he can see the real truth of everything, all the opportunities he has lost in his life and now how he sees the afterlife the place he's really belong, his real home.

i just wish i could say in words how much i love this song. the chorus is so..so..amazing with unbelievable guitar work.

in fact the new album is so amazing that i can't really hope for one specific track to be a single, But this song is the blazing star of the album, the comet. i hope it to be so.

Well it's obviously about "coming home", but I like to interpret it as more of a journey within ourselves to come back to who we really are, rather than a physical place. Cool song either way.

    Here's my attempt:

Verse 1: The singer realizes that someone at home has been right all these years about something.

Verse 2: Aspiring stars (musical artists, in particular) eventually fall, and the singer needs to return home before it's too late and he is not welcomed there any more.

Verse 3: The singer is afraid of how things at home may have changed, since he has been gone so long.

Verse 4: The singer realizes that all he truly wanted was his family/home and not being a famous/wealthy/etc. superstar.

The rest of the song is fairly self-explanatory, I think. In general, I think the song says that we shouldn't take our homes/families for granted, because they will be there for us in the future when other things aren't: "We come to find What we take for granted Keeps us alive in the end

So don't let time Leave you empty handed. Reach out tonight and make amends"

I'm guessing its just about wanting to go home. I mean bands do tour alot, and its easy to feel out of place, and think about memories and stuff.

as with all brilliant songs, the lyrics can mean something different to each of us but still touch us equally deeply. "Coming Home" has become one of my all time favourite songs and the lyrics make me miss my old house and neighborhood. the verse- Every broken man Comes to understand That he'll never find paradise When all that he wants Was there all the time is one of the great verses of rock n roll. MYLES YOU ROCK!!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
