Sun lights up the day time
You light up my life
The hand that calls you forward
Is the hand that leaves me behind

And I stand on the ocean shore
Like an old black and white movie
Love is, love is lost, again tonight

Hold me, hold me tonight
Hold me, hold me tonight

you've got a book like this
To keep me alive
And if it's not a rainy day
You simply don't go outside

And you're tired of everything
All of the girls and the boys
And you're tired of everything
All of your precious toys

Hold me, hold me tonight
Hold me, hold me tonight

Sun lights up the daytime
You light up my life
The hand that calls you forward
Is the hand, that leaves me behind

Hold me, hold me tonight
Hold me, hold me tonight

General CommentThis song is about how Julia is in love with someone but they’re being drawn apart. The part that says “The hand that calls you forward is the hand that leaves me behind” shows exactly that they’re being separated by something that seems to be beyond her control. The song then goes on to say “Love is here, love is lost, again tonight” This is further developing the idea of separation and how upset she is about it. “Hold me, hold me tonight” is perhaps what Julia wants to happen, even though she knows it can’t. She’s upset so she wants to be held and the way she is singing it is almost as if she’s crying. The next verse is “You’ve got a book like this, to keep me alive. And if its not a rainy day, you simply don’t go outside” and the listener then comes to the understanding that it may be his insecurities and worries that are preventing them from being together, as if he’s afraid to take a risk. “And you’re tired of everything, all of the girls and the boys, and if you’re tired of everything all of your precious toys.” This says that because he’s not willing to take a risk with their love, he’s restricted and will, or already has become tired of his life. The first verse is repeated, as is the chorus several times. Repetition makes the words stronger and imposes them as an important part of the ‘story’.
All in all, I think she's the only person who'd know for sure.

General CommentThe way she sings 'hold me' it reminds me of longing. I'm not too sure what the rest is about

General Commentthis song is probably one of my many favourites of the duo...as for the meaning i believe that possibly her love is drifting away and she wants them to know how much the mean to her and she longs to feel their love and affection...wailing...hold me!

Lyric Correctionit should be " Love is tears, love is lost, again tonight." , not "love is here".
