This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
On, it’s on; I declare my room a scene.
Gone, then gone; it’s too much that they say you need.
It’s not perfection, yeah —
how boring if it is nothing new for me.
Light on up with everybody watching you;
lights go down, everything is yours to lose.
First dancer takes the floor;
laugh, but you can’t ignore what you’re gonna do.
Waiting for attention, I’m not.
Cut it to the left and I rock.
Need an invitation, I don’t.
Slide it to the right and I roll.
Here it goes; the crowning of the cool kid queen.
Here it goes; the competition show their teeth.
I’ll let them fight it out —
it’s just my party, now, what I want to be.
Stand on up; everyone in queue in costume.
Step on out; don’t get sucked in for a second.
Bright lights might say your name, but they only light the stage —
nothing there to prove.
Waiting for attention, I’m not.
Cut it to the left and I rock.
Need an invitation, I don’t.
Slide it to the right and I roll.
Waiting for attention, I’m not.
Cut it to the left and I rock.
Need an invitation, I don’t.
Slide it to the right and I roll.
Hey hey hey hey..
Don’t accept critique or credit.
Hey hey hey hey..
The definition always changes.
It’s not the same as yours;
you could be so much more the closer that you get.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
I get the feeling of a high school dance or a disco back in the 70s or 80s where circles used to form around single dancers who would show off their moves. Saturday Night Fever sure comes to mind. I picture a kid who's been trying out all his new dance moves in his room all week between work or school or whatever - and he's been waiting to become a star for those 15 minutes on the dance floor at the local club or whatever. In a much broader sense: practicing over and over again to make your debut with confidence, almost cockiness and then nailing a performance of some kind. The title of the song seems to suggest that "Here It goes".
forgot to add: Cut to the left and slide to the right could easily be references to the DJ's turn tables (change the cut you're playing on deck one and slide the crossfader to deck two).
It seems like he has finally figured out who he is, and he realizes that people who criticize him don't really matter. "Definition always changes It's not the same as yours"
He's pretty much saying that he knows that people appreciate him for who he is, and he doesnt need the approval of other people to feel good about himself.
I don't know why but I can see this song in a pub as a dance mis or in a movie where everyone is doing the same dance!!
Slight correction:
"Stand on up, everyone who can, We've got to stare on out, don't get sucked in for a second. Grownups might say your name, they only light the stage, Nothing there to prove."
awkward for you...cos the lyrics up there are correct
I LOVE this song.
This song makes me want to dance. It's so upbeat and fresh. Nothing like anything on Futures.
small correction: "Laugh, but you can't ignore" And apologies to crimsondawn but it is most definitely "Robots might say your name, they only light the stage"
It's like the main character is a kid who's always been looked down upon for being different. Then one day, he has an epiphany. He owns up to his flaws alone in his room and to the fact that life can't be perfect. He attends his first dance and he's the first one to take the stage. He doesn't do it for attention, and he just begins to move oblivous to what people may think of him or his dance moves. It's like that moment Dane Cook said guys will never do... "I just wanna dance!" He wants to dance and he'll let the "cool kids" fight over the accolades all he wants is to express himself the only way he knows how... by rocking the shit out of that dance floor.
That's how I feel anyway. Amazing song. And such a welcome departure from the JEW norm. It makes me want to throw concern and caution to the wind and move. Great album as well.
I agree with davidprevails. This song makes me wanna dance so much! And I can definitely imagine a choreographed group dance to this. it's just calling for it. This is an awesome song on an awesome album!
oh, and it's "It's not perfection yet. How boring if it is." makes more sense than a random interjection. Thought that does happen a lot in music...
Probably my favorite song on the new album. So much fun.
