There goes the sun

Just trying to find your way anywhere
But you've come to find you're alone
It's getting dark and you've lost your way
I haven't let you go as long as you know that

I'm losing what's left of my dignity
But I'll fight till the end for her heart
I'll never give up for what's possibly
For better or worse this love must be cursed

You just try to keep your head down
But you come to find that trust has come and gone
Everyone out there is listening
But you don't care at all and you're probably glad to know

I'm losing what's left of my dignity
But I'll fight till the end for her heart
I'll never give up for what's possibly
For better or worse this love must be cursed

You already let it pass through your lips
You can't take it back now
(It's already out)
You already let it pass through your lips
Can't take it back
(It's already out)

You already let it pass through your lips
You can't take it back now
(It's already out)
You already let it pass through your lips
You can't take it back now

I'm losing what's left of my dignity
But I'll fight till the end for her heart
I'll never give up for what's possibly
For better or worse this love must be cursed

I'm holding on to her
(This love must be cursed)
I'm holding on to her
(This love must be cursed)
I'm holding on

I'm afraid to say she never made it home
Couldn't keep her head on
She was so close
I'm afraid to say she never made it home

I'm afraid to say she never made it home
I'm afraid to say she never made it home
I'm afraid to say she never made it home
(Couldn't keep her head on)
Afraid to say she never made it home

Here's my opinion. Anyone can disagree though.

I think it sounds like the Columbine High School shooting. I continuously listen to the lyrics and it does.

But that's just me. Agree or disagree.

wow. this song has to be the most confusing to give my opinion about. Because im seeing 2 diff. meanings on here.

    1) Girl is feeling alone, like she has nothing and no one by her side to keep her from losing her mind and commiting suicide or going HardxCore on drugs.

    2) Guy loves a girl and she told him she loved him too. So everythings goin good but then she said something to make the guy feel like she didnt want him. Or she cheated one of the other. Idk.

Someone else wanna give it a try.

Well first off i think this song is, if not, one of the best songs on the album. It takes you from the heavy intro, to the soft verses, then very melodic choruses.

Anywas so this song obviously involves to people, I and you, which implies the two people. And the you is female, so i assume that the I is a male. The male is obviously in love with this chick and he is trying to help her out, by telling her is there for her and what not. However, the female, i don't beleive gives him much of a chance and is glad when he struggles. "you’re probably glad to know, I’m losing what’s left of my dignity". The girls is trying to find herself, trying to find her life, but is having no luck. She finds that everyone in this world is just trying to get ahead in life at the risk of anyone's dignity. She, ironically, does the very same thing to the male in this song too. She becomes to a point where she can no longer go on, and the male is trying to help her, trying to help her go on. He wants his love to be known and i'm not sure if she loves him back, but she obviously sais something to him quite hurtful. And in the end she does not make it, "make it home". She almost finds herself, but not everyone is lucky enough to accomplish that.

Essentially the dude is one of those guys that a chick will talk to and hang out with, but will never get with. The kind of guy who girls like to vent with, but never get a girlfriend. Probably a painful spot to be in.

Nothing hurts worse than loving and not being loved back. And in this song I think that he wants nothing more than to be with her. But she believes she can do better. So she searches and comes up empty. But he's not giving up.

Hmm, I don't really think that she said something to HIM. In my opinion, she started to lose it--or at least that's what it seemed like to everyone else.

"There goes the sun; Just trying to find your way anywhere, But you’ve come to find you’re alone; It's getting dark and you’ve lost your way" She got sick mentally or depressed, or something like that. He was just trying to be there for her because he loved her and wanted to get her through it all.

I don't think that "as long as you know that" is continued with "I'm losing what's left of my dignity". The whole line "I haven’t let you go as long as you know that" is together. The chorus isn't connected.

What he's trying to get across is that he was sticking with her through her issues, even though everyone else around him thought it was pointless. The girl must have said something that caused everyone to label her insane or something and therefore he was losing his dignity by hanging around with her.

He's fighting to save her because there's still a possibility for her to get better, but she doesn't and in the end she dies or gives up or something.

I agree with ex.pafilyzon. To me, this song is about a girl who commits suicide.. and a guy that loved her and wanted to stop her, but she thought the pain of her life was too much, and that no one could help her life get better, not even the guy, whether or not she loved him back.

I've never tried this before, but here I go: What I see in this song is a girl who has been in many relationships, but it all of them end in disaster(probably cheating or dishonesty), so she has become afraid to trust and be in relationships. And then the guy, who loves the girl, is trying as hard as he possibly can, despite everything in his way, to win her heart and earn her trust and be with her. But the girl just can't hold onto life and what she has been through and commits suicide, without ever knowing there was actually a man she could trust right in front of her face.

My first try at interpreting lyrics haha, but this is a great song.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
