"Ruby Baby" as written by and Leiber/stoller....
I got a girl and Ruby is her name
She don't love me, but I love her just the same
Ruby Baby how I want you
Like a ghost I'm gonna haunt you
Ruby Baby when will you be mine

Each time I see you baby my heart cries
I'm gonna steal you away from all those guys
From the sunny day I met you
Made a bet that I would get you
Ruby Baby when will you be mine

I got a girl and Ruby is her name
I'd give the world just to set her heart aflame
Got some lovin' money too
Gonna give it all to you
Ruby Baby when will you be mine

General CommentReal nice job on a fun song. We all have a Ruby somewhere... I'd give the world just to set her heart aflame...hey hey anybody got a match...

I think the "oh miiine" should be "all" miiine. I don't plan on sharing my Ruby Baby

General CommentPersonally, I get a weird feeling about this song. I am under the impression that the narrator actually as some sort of obsessive, one-way relationship with a prostitute.

"Each time I see you, baby my heart cries
I'm gonna steal you away from all those guys
    (...)
    Got some loving money too
Gonna give it all to you"

I don't know, it might be far off (and yes, I know this is not a Fagen-song), but that was actually my first impression of the song.

Pfff, Fagen makes anything sound tragicomic... even old Rock 'n' Roll classics. Respect

General CommentWhen either Leiber or Stoller (I forget which) was on Desert Island Discs (popular UK radio show in which celebs pick 8 records to take to a desert island) this was the only L&S tune he picked among his 8, which is quite a complement.
