Blood red lips traced with a tongue they shine,
Cut thought a crowded room.
A look can say a lot sometimes
And so I take all my past attractions
And project on you.

Every disappointment's and mistake,
Some resentment from a one-night heartbreak.
My head is spinning
My hands go damp,
But still I force an introduction

And I ask you to dance.
You feel like home up against me so close,
Though we've just met tonight .
There's still so much that we still don't know,
But I'm fairly certain

That we just might work out right.
Then again it can all go up in flames,
And I'll take you down in the name of love.
But for now let's kiss hard,
Fuck the games.
All or nothing, it's written in blood

[Chorus]
On the way to the wedding,
Dressed in black, she said
"Sorry lover but you can't look back."
She says
"Oh no," she goes,
"Oh no," she goes
"Slow down baby or you're gonna explode."
On the way to the wedding,
Dressed in black, he said
"Sorry lover but you can't look back."
She says
"Oh no," she goes,
"Oh no," she goes
"Slow down baby keep your eyes on the road"

Soft wet skin, hairs raised, body tired;
And the sheets are across the floor.
You tell me that love don't last,
Drawing circles with your fingernails across my back.
As your lips form the words you won't say,

In the distance your favorite song plays.
I turn you over and look in your eyes,
Promise you that this is forever
Or till one of us dies.
You taste like tear stains

And could have beens,
But I love a good train wreck.
Your hair balled up inside my fist,
You tell me don't get too attatched
Like this is just entertainment.

Then again it could go up in flames,
And I'll take you down in the name of love.
Maybe one last kiss just to ease the pain
All or nothing it's written in blood

[Chorus: x 2]

On the way to the wedding (Oh no) [Repeat: x 7]

On the way to the wedding

The lyrics posted aren't entirely correct, but anyway:

I agree with the idea of the most simple interpretation-the woman is about to get married and has a moment of weakness, but the man is delusional because all his previous relationships have failed or been meaningless anyway. The idea of being "on the way to the wedding, dressed in black" is the union of love and death, and also i think represents how to this woman this is her burying all her past indiscretions and so on, and telling him to keep his eyes "on the road" indicates he's trying to stop the wedding, by driving her down another path with him which she doesn't really want, which also explains the offer "...till one of us dies" as in wedding vows, which she rejects.

the video is, i think, very good but not representative of the lyrics particularly.

    :)

This is a completely different interpretation, but I feel it makes the most sense. A little long but I think you will agree with me.

The song and the video are two completely different stories, the video doesn't actually depict the lyrics. I think the whole song is from the point of view of the male character. There are only the two lovers, neither of them are getting married. The wedding refers to something else, which I will explain later. Let’s call the male character Romeo and the female will be Juliet.

    First Verse:

Blood red lips, traced with a tongue they shine Cut through a crowded room --This is when he first sees her, probably in a bar or some social event, “crowded room”.

    A look can say a lot sometimes So I take all my past attractions and project on you --He makes a judgement on her personality based purely on her looks. Past attraction probably refers to all the previous girls he dated, and what he was attracted to in each of them. He imagines all those girls in Juliet. {Perhaps he is still in love with all of them?}

Every disappointment and mistake Some resentment from a one night heartbreak --“ Summer’s ending” has been changed to “Some resentment.” Again he is referring to those "past attractions", but using a more negative connotation. I think this means that all the other girls were disappointments and mistakes so far. "Some resentment from a one night heartbreak", or a one night stand. I would guess it was a bad experience. From this we can deduce Romeo is not looking for a one night stand with Juliet but a serious relationship.

My head is spinning my hands go damp But still I force an introduction then I ask you to dance -- Second line just describes their first meeting.

You feel like home up against me close -- He just fell in love.

No we just met tonight There's so much that we still don't know --Romeo expressing his reservation about his new love and the prospect of a new relationship and probably another heartache.

But I'm fairly certain that we might just work out right --This is fairly straightforward, he feels so strongly about her the he is pretty sure it will workout.

Then again it could all go up in flames - OR - Then again it can all go up in flames And I'll take you down in the name of love -- In the back of his mind he knows there is a chance of disappointment, and a quite vivid depiction of what might happen if things don't work out. I think he says ‘can’, not ‘could’.

But for now lets kiss hard, fuck the games -- Caught up in the heat of lust, he forgets his worries.

All or Nothing, It's Written in Blood --I think this is foreshadowing things to come, revealing this story is a tragedy. Blood could be interpreted as death.

*Lets skip the first chorus, we'll come back to it later.

    Second Verse:

Soft wet skin, hands raised, body tired And the sheets are across the floor --Some good sex, lol.

You tell me that love don't last Drawin circles with your fingernails across my back --I think the whole second verse takes place that night after they first met and had sex. This is why I don’t think she was ever in love with her. Plus she plainly love don’t last, or her way of telling him she is not in love.

As your lips form the words that you wont say In the distance your favorite song plays --I think that they are at her place. She puts her favorite music on?

I turn you over and look in your eyes Promise you that this is forever or till one of us dies --I guess this could be interpreted as rape. Though I doubt it, "drawing circles with your fingernails across my back". Though like Jango said the love or death scenario is incorporated. Either she loves him or she dies, but I don’t think he intended on killing her from the beginning, it was more like a crime of passion. Again there is an allusion to death. "...till one of us dies."

You taste like tear stains and could of beens --Tear stains refer to his own tears stains. He is feeling bitterness because he just realized this is not love after all. The could of beens are all his hopes crushed.

But our love was a trainwreck - OR - But I love a good trainwreck --If you listen carefully you'll hear "But I love a good trainwreck." Perhaps he is addicted to having his heart broken. Not exactly sure how to interpret this.

    Your hair balled up inside my fist You tell me don't get to attached, like this is just entertainment --Now he is frustrated and angry, and turning into a psycho. One could argue that Romeo is mentally ill, but I think that is irrelevant. Again he is being told that this is just a one night stand. {Making him even angrier?}

Then again it can all go up in flames And I'll take you down in the name of love Maybe one last kiss just to ease the pain

All or Nothing, It's Written in Blood --Does this mean that someone is going to die, or both of them? I think it does. This song could be compared to a Shakespearean play written in a contemporary style. If you have ever read Romeo and Juliet you'll remember death was a theme throughout the story just as in the lyrics of this song.

    Chorus:

On the way to the wedding dressed in black, He said sorry lover but you can't look back, She says "OH NO" She goes "OH NO" She goes "Slow down baby or we're gunna explode" ... She goes "Slow down baby, keep your eyes on the road"

--A wedding is a union of two people, and black could refer to death. People go to funerals in black not to weddings. From this I decided the line must mean that they will be together in death. Also, from this I deduced that they will both die, you need two people to get married. The chorus suggests that they are in a car. I think he runs into something and the car blows up killing hem both, “...it can all go up in flames“ It could also be a literary device used to illustrate their death.

So. Yup. Amazing song. And I agree with you Tokyo. A guy uses all of his "past attractions" to get with this girl. They have their thing, she says love doesn't last. Funny thing is, this guy thinks it does, so much so that no love lasts. "Then again it can all go up in flames" -- as though there's still 'that' option. She doesn't say "I love you" and here is where the song blurs for me. There's the clear, they have sex again, and she's really fucked up ("but I love a good trainwreck"). Then he goes and kills her. Or there's the... He turns her over, pins her down and says as he looks into her eyes, "Promise you that this is forever or till one of us dies". Which would ensue a threat. Which leads me to believe that she then gets raped. Hence:

"You taste like tear stains and could of beens But I love a good trainwreck. Your hair balled up inside my fist You tell me don't get to attached, like this is just entertainment"

She's crying because... well he's raping her. Which would be why her hair is balled up, and then she says don't get too attatched, you know, like in one of those tones someone would say when they're talking to some complete fucking psycho, and he says she said it "like this is just entertainment" meaning, it's serious fucking business, because either she's gonna love him or... "Then again this can all go up in flames" -- She dies.

So yup. My interpretation of the song.

    Amazing--Fucked up. But amazing...

    My Interpretation

Ahem... am I the only who thinks the chorus is describing a blow-job? I like all the interpretations here, but none of them mention what I'm pretty sure is an allusion to a woman performing fellatio on a man while he's driving. In the music video (promotional music videos almost never go along with the song, but I think this deserves a mention) the man goes down on one of the women, so maybe with that scene they were trying to drive that point in.

I wouldn't be surprised with SWR. What with all the popsicles melting, high heels, and fishnets present in their music and image. ;)

I agree with Sandor on everything but the last part of the chorus. I think that yeah, it isnt a wedding, it's a funeral, but the fact that he refers to it as a wedding implies ti is related to love, or two people joining togther. But, I dont think the slow down thing is talking about a car wreck, more like, if they don't slow down with their relationship, everything is going to combust at once, and it will lead to the death of both of them, if they don't take ti slow.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
