"Slow Me Down" as written by and Stuart Brawley Emmy Rossum....
Rushing and racing and running in circles,
Moving so fast I'm forgetting my purpose.
Blur of the traffic is sending me spinning,
Getting nowhere.

My head and my heart are colliding - chaotic.
Pace of the world - I just wish I could stop it.
Try to appear like I've got it together - I'm falling apart.

Save me.
Somebody take my hand and lead me.
Slow me down.
Don't let love pass me by,
Just show me how.
Cause I'm ready to fall.
Slow me down.
Don't let me live a lie,
Before my life flies by.
I need you to slow me down.

Sometimes I fear that I might disappear.
In the blur of fast-forward I falter again.
Forgetting to breath,
I need to sleep.
I'm getting nowhere.
All that I've missed I see in the reflection.
Passed me while I wasn't paying attention.
Tired of rushing, racing, and running.
I'm falling apart.

Tell me.
Oh won't you take my hand and lead me.
Slow me down.
Don't let love pass me by.
Just show me how.
Cause I'm ready to fall
Slow me down.
Don't let me live a lie,
Before my life flies by.
I need you to slow me down.
Just show me.
I need you to slow me down.

The noise of the world is getting me caught up.
Chasing the clock and I wish I could stop it.
Just need to breathe,
Somebody please.

Slow me down.

General CommentThis song is insantely meaningful... Why doesn't it have COMMENTS??

It is so cryptic... You have to listen to it..

This is written from the perspective of someone who isn't living. Her life is just living her. She wants to be in love. She needs someone who will make life worth living, and "slow her down" so she can enjoy the little things again.

She's caught in a trap, and can't live without the one.

It's sung so creepily, it'll really touch you.

General Commentfor the first time i've heard this song, it was like, you know, another actress wants to be a pop star, but then it grew out on me, and now I get the meaning.

I think this is about loving someone, but you want to be with that person as soon as possible, cuz the time will go by, and you will be left all alone.
maybe the song isn't about her, but still, i think that 'slow me down' is a song about love passing by.
maybe she (or someone) is feeling the pressure to find that person to be with cuz she's probably feeling older and older, and wants to find someone to be with.
her life is going fast, and she's forgeting what she must do and what she must find. xDD

    General Commenti love this song
yes it does sound imogen heap-y but i couldn't be more delighted!! ..i am a huge imogen fan and adore this type of music. emmy has done a fantastic job with her album and she writes with depth. i am quite tired of hearing that she is just ripping off imogen (not from here dont worry...other forums on the net) and it is quite unfair. emmy does sound like imogen but a lot of artists sound like ..a lot of other artists and they are still well received. this song has a particular 'sound' that is similar to imogens but is very different in many other ways. these lyrics obviously display much emotion and to cast emmy's music off as a carbon copy is narrow minded. after all music is made to be enjoyed and emmy's album is very beautiful and enjoyable

General Commenti kinda think shes singing about how shes not living and how shes going through the motions of life but not seeing the small things and not getting love and she wants somebody to stop her or slow her down and really show and let her live life

General CommentImogen Heap is different. she has a unique texture to her songs, they're a bit less confessional too. She likes to obscure the norm. Her voice is very unique, and she doesn't usually use 30 layers of her own voice. Even "Hide & Seek" was just like 6 layers, and they were all made at the same time using a vocoder. Emmy Rossum is like singer-songwriter but in amore ambient light. Not that ambient, I could never feel right calling her ambient. But neither is Imogen Heap.

I think what it comes down it is that Emmy Rossum has a more ambient-minded approach to pop, while Imogen Heap has an electronica/techno approach without it being too computerized.

It's a close call, but they are different enough.

General CommentI don't think it sounds like Imogen Heap at all. Imogen Heap has a specific, unique quality to her music, and I think this is a bit different. Imogen Heap doesn't do 140 layers of her own voice!
I cannot say I am not a bit surprised by the direction she took, but I absolutely love it.
I believe the song is about how fast life is and how she wishes someone would, obviously, slow her down and let her experience life and love.

General CommentIt's about forgetting the things that make you love life. Rushing through everything and becoming disoriented and forgetting your purpose. Not being able to sleep, because your heart says one thing and your head says the other. Falling apart, getting nowhere, and life slipping away faster and faster without notice. All you want is to know who is supposed to calm you. You want someone to slow you down so you aren't numb to the world anymore.

    Just my opinion.

General CommentYeah, my first thought was "Way to rip off Imogen Heap", and to be quite honest, much of her album is in the same style that Imogen Heap uses, but I really enjoy it anyway. Except her cover of 'Rainy Days and Mondays', but that's a rant for elsewhere.

I agree with SweetnessKitty - a lot of times, you forget the simpler things about life, and get caught up in the routine and schedule of things. Work, school, whatever, it's all your routine, and time flies by really fast when you get caught up in those things. The song is about finding someone who will slow you down, who will make you forget about those rushing things and appreciate life a little more.
