Is your love really love?
Is my love really love?
I think our love isn't love
Unless it?s love to the end

Is your god really God?
Is my god really God?
I think our god isn't God
If he fits inside our heads

Is your love really love?
Is my love really love?
I think our love isn't love
Unless it?s love to the end

Is your god really God?
Is my god really God?
I think our god isn't God
If he fits inside our heads

Is your god really God?
Is my love really love?
Is my god really God?
Come on, come on [Incomprehensible]

the first part is his idea of what true love is

the second part, i think "well then" gets it. god has to be universal. you are not in control. if your god fits into your head then you control it, and in turn you are your own god

soccero15, basically the back ground voices are people who are skeptical of God's existence as they talk about how "if God made us and we are in its image, then God would come down and change things" something to that affect, and i think it is so awesome that to counter the typical skeptical view of God and needing all the answers to every questions, cody in the song sings "I think our god isn't God if He fits inside our head" its a very powerful line, because if we knew all the answers to the universe/life there would be no room for faith, and faith is required to please God.

i think its more than faith. that is a good point, but i don't think its THE point. i think he's getting at the heart of western Christianity, and its misplaced views of God.

two of the biggest issues of Christianity in the west are the ideas of love and who God is. most of the church (in America) focuses on sin as the point of God's story, but it's not, it's love. love is the point. undeserved. unearned. even unreciprocated love. "love me. love your neighbor." but i think we so caught up in our church culture, ie. the youth group mentality, that we forget the purpose and the point of the "good news" which is love. thats a whole can of worms topic, but overall, i think the lyrics reflect a misunderstanding of love. as do the lyrics speak of a misunderstanding of God.

"i think our God isn't God if he fits inside our heads" faith is important but i think cody's intention was to point out how quickly we think we've got God figured out and how much we know about him and in reality, how little we do in regards to his will, our lives and our representation of him. when we think we've got him figured out, then we lose all ability to learn about him. we become closed minded and for years, we've been living a faith that is handed down to us for generations, not by him, but by parents an pastors and we never truly own understanding of God. and sometimes when we open our minds to start fresh, we learn maybe things aren't what we've always been told.

the voices in the background are people with different views on god. there is a christian, an agnostic, an atheist, and one is actually a preacher or theologist i believe.

To me, everytime I hear this song I am drowned in the mindset of what non-christians really think. To me the 2nd stanza, "is your God..." is more of a question of what are you putting first. In the old testament alot of people worshipped false Gods and to this day even if you are an atheist, I believe if you put anything before God, it will become your God. I believe what cody is saying is I think our God isn't God because we have created our own idols. We have put things in front of God that weren't meant to be. Such as even time towards meaningless treasures of the earth.

I love the line "I think our God isn't God if He fits inside our heads" cause it totally makes sense that the created shouldn't be able to even comprehend the crazy-awesomeness of the Creator.

This song is one of those simple-yet-powerful songs. As far as understanding God, this is all you need to know: you can't. He will not be put in a box.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
