The Serpent's Kiss Lyrics
Sink my teeth deep into you
Solemn oath of sheer destruction
Nightmare, through and through
Hope is swallowed up in pain
Taste the venom, feel the power
Coursing through my veins
I'm destruction, through and through
With a Serpent's Kiss
With a Serpent's Kiss
Make me beg make me pray
Tell me when to laugh or cry
When to live and when to die
Rotting and decayed
Left to wither, without a voice
Left to slither, without a choice
Say your little empty prayers
This empire, growing higher
To the sky I swear
Swimming in a sea or rage
Vindicators, masqueraders
All the world's my stage
I empower, god of pain
With a Serpent's Kiss
How could it come to this?
With a Serpent's Kiss

Ok this is obviously about the Fall of man.... Adam and Eve that whole bit.........Just Check out The music video....that's it plain and simple..... pretty sweet song.....

I concur with the guy above. It's obviously about Adam and Eve, and the whole "OMGZ I WANTZ THAT APPLE LOL!" thing >_>
'Cuz if anyone here knows the story (I only know it 'cuz it's off the Simpsons o_q) it was a snake that convinced them to eat one of the apples.

They're very messy eaters in the video and the apple is really weired. Its full of white goo. And whats up with their backs they have like a black thing on their spine

all of the above the whole album is based off the poem Paradise Lost by John Milton...if you have a lot of patience try givin it a read. i "read" it in college, after hearin this album i wish i paid more attention to it lol

sure its about satan, but what about this part:
"Be my lights and I won't stray Make me beg make me pray Tell me when to laugh or cry When to live and when to die"
is that from the pov of adam/eve?

"Be my lights and I won't stray Make me beg make me pray Tell me when to laugh or cry When to live and when to die" This verse might be from the POV of Adam/Eve, but if Symphony X took a page from Milton (who kind of made Satan out to be a Byronic hero), then it could be a sort of final plea from Satan -- like his moment of hesitation before trying to tempt Eve.
Also, it is important to remember that in Paradise Lost, Satan thinks that by tempting Eve and Adam with the Fruit of Knowledge, he is actually acting in their interest. He seeks not to corrupt God's creation, but to "free" them and make them his ally.
