god, I love these lyrics. I think they get better as you head into the song. I'm not exactly sure how to entrepret them though. I think it's kind of like giving up trying...fighting. And by not acting, it means that this person is making the choice they think is right, even if things turn out badly for them.

I think this song is about how you're trying to help a friend with everything you can do, and after a while they start to almost use you. But you're just so caught up in helping them, you don't realize that and that you hate what you're doing. When you realize it, you just need a moment to yourself, and "hide yourself away". But then you find out that your friend sincerely needs your help, and when you're calmed down, you decide to help them one last time.

Being able to skate by, easy going, and probably popular with others but still able to keep yourself from being the center of attention out of fear of others knowing who you really are. This creates a fault in yourself that could cause this "fall" because its something you're choosing not to fix. No one can see the real you or break through the walls you've built around yourself to keep you from self destructing.

Contradictions show that you aren't being yourself. You ignore your problems by keeping them far from yourself. Time goes on and you choose to not change or fix those problems.

You can't show anyone who you really are, you feel like maybe you could someday, but it doesn't feel like you can. You're making excuses to not be true to yourself. You feel like everyone is your worst enemy and you can't be yourself because of it.

When you're alone, maybe when you're lying in bed and with only your thoughts, you realize how lonely you really are. Only you know you, and its painful knowing that everyone else sees this mask you put up, only making it worse knowing things won't change.

You feel like everyone is frustrated with who you are, like they see through the mask you put up. You acknowledge that maybe it doesn't make you a good friend to others if you can't be you around them. But that's still not enough to change your mind.
