World got me livin on the dark side
It's dark skin dark eyes
I fight for freedom but my problems multiply
On the darkside
It's dark skin dark eyes
I fight for freedom but my problems multiply
I fight for freedom but my problems multiply
I fight for freedom but my problems

In my hearts it's all black i was raised to be a good man instead
Here I stand, a shadow of my self, no wealth, and in bad health
Talking bout my mental state I may need help

Cept that sucks for a nigga like me
See this living aint free least I get to smoke trees, least I get to smoke trees?
Better than to hang from the same, aint no Damn game shoulda chose to bang
Im estranged from the black pain
Shit I need some cain to go numb from my own pain
Realized they the same on this plane cause human's life pain

Im at odds, God can you make it so the fucking pain will stop!
God! Can you make it so my fucking heart will pop in my chest
They replied boi you don't understand how blessed yes I said blessed that is it you are

So imma go hard! All for the power, min after min, hour after hour
Ill eviscerate forever every  mothafucking coward
Have em look up to my pretty face from a bed of flowers mothafucka
Spitting Venom, no ether, I aint got the Nos different kinda creature
The type to hear she gotta man and not believe words
And now my actions got me saddled underneath her
Im climbing deeper, maybe Ima keep her

Maybe I keep sane, from the love of pretty pussy, drink and some mary jane
Sounding like an addict, but it's habit does that seem strange
Rearrange derangement in the basement just to keep tame, no shame

Don't blame me for tryna live like OGs, image in my mind seen on screen of tvs
Worlds all fucked a nigga trying to survive, thrive by any means, so he living on the dark side

Living on the dark side
Dark skin dark eyes
On the Dark side
Living on the dark side
Dark skin dark eyes
On the Dark side
By whatever means Im doin me

I think I want war
Why, cause im bored
Ideas of destruction
Just to settle all the scores
Imaginary lines
We dont really need more
Guess it's for the people
Fake down to their core

They need to hear the sound of a body go thud
God fuck a rainbow honestly we need a flood
People don't care till their eyes catch blood
Mean mug
Do they get me
No they only see a thug

No love for the black skinned clan
I don't understand since we all human
Every gene derived from a black woman
Wanna piece of the culture don't see cuffs on hands

Fuck it man, it's not like anybody really cares
Too scared, even unaware of rights that they bare
At this point it's childish to wish the world to be fair
Fair skin and straight hair got the globe in a snare

But not me, race is a lie, currency a game your country plays till you die
Media modifying the makings of your mind
But I ain't here to judge I got the drugs making mine
Hard times, wanna die, but Im programmed to survive

So im alive, but I aint really living, dead man walking
Nah just kidding, scour the world in search of what it is im missing
But let me quit my bitchin move on to the mission
World domination and Im open to enlistment
Do understand the current leaders won't permit this
Their peace is a lie based on socializing pigment
Passion in my soul's the only thing that I know
Whatever it takes to break the cyclic status quo
I know some hear me calling, I know some down to ride, don't hide

Come and join me on the dark side
Whatever skin or color eyes
We fight together it's the enemy's demise
On the dark side
Break your chains free your mind
We fight together and our enemy will die

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
