This is the place of the skull where terror reigned,
A crucifixion of agony and pain,
A crown of thorns peirced his skin,
Bound by the wages of sin,
Mercy so undeserved,
We cursed our god. While he suffered
The skies grow dark and the earth shakes,
And for a second your heart breaks,
Eloi Eloi Lama Sabacthani,
Our souls lie in golgotha,
Prophecy fulfilled in golgotha

General CommentMr. Stormy is right. The meaning is obvious. But death metal is simply a musical genre. God never said we can only produce music a certain way. The beauty of music is that it can be played an infinite number of ways. You don't have to be confined, christian or secular. It isn't an oxymoron at all.

General CommentActually, With Blood Comes Cleansing is a fairly religious Christian band, they make some fucking BRUTAL music but most (all?) of their lyrics are accurate, albeit graphic, descriptions of Jesus' experiences.

General CommentMr.stormy, sometimes Christians get creative and call the DEATH metal LIFE metal, BLACK metal UNBLACK (or WHITE) metal. Really, all death metal is is a sub-genre of metal. It doesn't describe lyrics. It describes what you expect to hear from a band under the Death Metal genre.

And sonicemerald. I don't know whether you are disagreeing with kyle or not. It sounds like you don't believe this music is a joyful noise. Well, it makes me joyful. Metal to me is a joyful noise. Ever heard the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Well to me "A joyful noise is in the ear of the beholder". Honestly, I am a Christian, but I do not enjoy typical Christian worship. Does that make it wrong because it isn't a joyful noise. Now lets look at the last part of that verse. "unto God". WBCC, Impending Doom, Becoming the Archetype all write music that uplifts God's name. To me that is "unto God".
