I wrote a note to my future ghost
Quoting words I've spoke
And that I meant only half the time
Now I only speak between grinding teeth
And my constant sleep
Cause that's the pace that I've got to go

So run along cause you had best be on your way

[Chorus]
Don't worry just hurry
Cause you have got a lot to lose here
But I'm catching up on that lost sleep
Do I have a lot to lose

I am a man with my task at hand
And my swollen glands
And just a couple of days to go
Until I'm on a stage

With my voice and bass
And all my choices made
And all the places I've got to go

So run along cause you had best be on your way

[Chorus x2]

So run along cause you had best be on your way
Well run along cause you had best be on your way
Well hey hey hey

[Chorus x2]

i think this song is about when kenny is not that famous...when he still is very excited about going up on stage and singing his lungs out, with his bass... "I am a man With my task at hand And my swollen glands And just a couple of days to go Until I'm on a stage With my voice and bass And all my choices made And all the places I've got to go"

I think Kenny is always excited about performing, regardless of how 'famous" he gets [wow, it's weird to think of him of famous]. He truly loves what he does. Anyway, I think this is about life on the road- the fact that it's such a fast-paced lifestyle & all.

no offense to mr vasoli but he is not famous. i think his writing is amazing and at warped they played awesome. so much energy. but he is not famous. he is the first person i saw at warped he was just standing next to the tsl tent and like no one was really recognizing him at all. so it was easy to talk to him anyways haha

Ken is a great guy. Easy to talk to, I have talked to him after shows many times. Hopefully this album ends up being huge for them. They put so much work into their music, and they really love what they do. Hopefully the reward will be good for them.

I think this song refers to the writing and final mixing of b.o.a.t.s. They want him to hurry and come up with the songs, and now he's waiting around for them to finish the final mixing. They both have a lot to lose if it's not done soon. That's why his glands are swollen (recording), and now he he has nothing to do with his time. He can't wait to get back to touring.

Hmm there is kinda mixed interpretations of this song. I personally think it's about rushing through life and how everyone wants you do things quickly. he's telling the listener to "don't worry, just hurry" but he justs wants to slow down a bit but he wonders if he has "a lot to lose". At least that's I understood it.

In Kenny's own words:"This is a manifestation of the feeling we get that we are not living out lives fast enough or up to our full potential. A motivational piece."

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
