Katy, don't cry, I know
You're trying your hardest
And the hardest part is
Letting go of the nights we shared
Ocala is calling
And you know it's haunting
But compared to your eyes
Nothing shines quite as bright
And when we look to the sky
It's not mine, but I want it so

Let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
I know he's there and
You're probably hanging out and making nice
While across the room he stares
I'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance
She'll say yes
Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess, but I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you, I'll be miserable at best

You're all that I hoped I'd find in every single way
And everything I would give is everything you couldn't take
Cause nothing feels like home, you're a thousand miles away
And the hardest part of living is just taking breaths to stay
'Cause I know I'm good for something, I just haven't found it yet
But I need it, so

Let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
I know he's there and
You're probably hanging out and making nice
While across the room he stares
I'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance
She'll say yes
Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess, but I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you, I'll be miserable at best

La-da-da, la-da-da
Ah-da-da, la, oh
Oh

And this will be the first time in a week
That I'll talk to you and I can't speak
It's been three whole days since I've had sleep
'Cause I dream of his lips on your cheek
And I got the point that I should leave you alone
But we both know that I'm not that strong and
I miss the lips that made me fly, so

Let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
I know he's there and
You're probably hanging out and making nice
While across the room he stares
I'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance
She'll say yes
Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess, but I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you I'll be miserable
And I can live without you, but
Without you I'll be miserable
And I can live without you, but
Oh, without you I'll be miserable at best

the song is about a guy breaking up with his girl friend who he loves very much but he has to let it go because because she likes someone else, "And when we look to the sky It's not mine, but I want it So let's not pretend like you're alone tonight I know he's there And you're probably hanging out and making eyes While across the room he stares I'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor And ask my girl to dance" He wants "the sky" to be his but he knows its not. as in he wants her to love him like he loves her or like she used to love him.

"She'll say yes, because these words were never easier For me to say, or her to second guess"

He knows that she loves someone else and the other guy likes her too & she would take the other guy instead of him, & hes talking about when he says I Love you or any thing else like that, and how she isnt sure if he means it.

"But I guess that I can live without you But without you I'll be miserable at best" If thats really what she wants he will let her go but it will leave him miserable

"You're all that I hoped I'd find in every single way And everything I could give Is everything you couldn't take Cause nothing feels like home You're a thousand miles away" to him she was everything he would ever want, everything he did to make her stay everything he did for her still couldnt get her to stay she never liked it that much anyway and now he feels empty, hes missing a big part of him his "home" and she feels so far "a thousand miles away"

"And the hardest part of living Is just taking breaths to stay Cause I know I'm good for something I just haven't found it yet But I need it" he dosent even feel like he wants to live, its hard for him to find the strength to breath he knows that he did good things, and that he has to be good for something, he cant be useless but he dosent know what the could be, he needs to know what hes good for.

"So let's not pretend like you're alone tonight I know he's there And you're probably hanging out and making eyes While across the room he stares I'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor And ask my girl to dance" he knows that hes there, he wans he to stop acting like she has found another he knows that they are probably flirting and that she has forgotten all about him already. he knows that he will ask her to "dance" as in ask her out.

"And this will be the first time in a week That I'll talk to you and I can't speak It's been three whole days since I've had sleep Cause I dream of his lips on your cheek" he finally has the chance ot talk to her and he cant find anything to say because he knows that she has already moved on even after all that they had, she stopped caring. he hasent slept in the days thinking about her and what shes doing with him.

"And I got the point that I should leave you alone But we both know that I'm not that strong And I miss the lips that made me fly" not he just wants to ignore her and let her do what she wants to, but they both know that he wants to talk to her and see her. He misses her kiss

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
