If you wanna sink to the bottom with me
[Incomprehensible], reeling and rotten beneath
One, two, three and down you go
You'll be smiling before you know
If you wanna sink to the bottom with me

We're all rotten, buried and forgotten, living it up underground
So take a ride, hey, hey, hey, hey
You really can't be looking so surprised
If you can't beat 'em, might as well eat them
No one's getting out alive, give it a try, hey, hey, hey, hey
It really is a wicked way to die

Listen, my friend, to sound of the sweet melody
Doesn't it seem to resound like an old memory?
Screaming and crying, we'll have none of that
You had you're chance, now just sit and relax
Don't you wanna sink to the bottom with me?

We're all rotten, buried and forgotten, living it up underground
So take a ride, hey, hey, hey, hey
You really can't be looking so surprised
If you can't beat 'em, might as well eat them
No one's getting out alive, give it a try, hey, hey, hey, hey
It really is a wicked way to die

And you'll get used to it in a while
Look at the way each of us smile
You were living a fantasy
This is exactly what you need

If you wanna sink to the bottom with me
[Incomprehensible], reeling and rotten beneath
One, two, three and down you go
Feel that smile just start to grow
If you wanna sink to the bottom

We're all rotten, buried and forgotten, living it up underground
So take a ride, hey, hey, hey, hey
You really can't be looking so surprised
If you can't beat 'em, might as well eat them
No one's getting out alive, so give it a try, try, try, try
It really is a wicked way, it really is a wicked way
It really is a wicked way to die

They're all just so pathetic
It's all psychosomatic
The more they think, the more we know
So welcome home

Wow, this song\'s a lot different to the rest of the album (which, by the way, is really good).

i see this song as referring to getting high. obviously many of the other songs on this album refer to or directly state something to do with drugs and i really see this one as doing the same.

"come sink to the bottom with me" it just clicks in my head that the writer is addressing getting high

"we're all rotten, buried and forgotten" some people think of drug addicts as rotten and some addicts think of themselves as buried and forgotten.

"Living it up underground" this makes me think of a basement.

"So take a ride" in other words.."so get wasted"

"Give it a try It really is a wicked way to die" must i keep relating this or are you guys starting to get the picture...?

let me know what you if you agree??

i think this song talks about anger and how could it make people go mad, and talks to a person that (maybe) will be an accomplice in some wicked plan to quench the protagonist's thirst for revenge

    • "Come get gotten, reelin' and rotten beneath" it's a metaphor: "reeling" means getting unstraight to the point about who did it (the wicked plan), "rotten" means corrupted/insane

    • "You'll be smilin' before you know" cause fucking enemies is enjoyable

    • "We're all rotten..." WE, the protagonist is insane so maybe it has multiple personality disorder, or "pretends" to be two people or more

    • "You really can't be lookin' so surprised" believing in the possibility that seeks the protagonist guilty is not so crazy

    • "It really is a wicked way to die" the protagonist will die hated

    • "Doesn't it seem to resound like an old memory" the "sweet melody" is the person who the protagonist was before twisting its mind

    • "Screamin' and cryin' we'll have none of that" the protagonist is mercyless

    • "You had your chance now just sit and relax" keeping your mind cold, you ease all

    • "If you can't beat them, might as well eat them" feeding your longing for revenge is preferable than giving somebody a beating, "eat" means to feed it

    • "No ones getting out alive" too many people will be fucked

    • "They're all just so pathetic, It's all psycosomatic" conspiring you can create paranoia in some people, people will answer... "who?"

    • "The more they think the more we know" you can see their paranoia, you are the master (with power) and they are lambs (with doubts, and madness)

    • "So welcome home" the protagonist offers a chance to quench its thirst for revenge too, and welcomes the accomplice

PD: please excuse my low leveled english, and correct my phrases to let me know how to make them right... if you want

this song is really catchy and creepy at the same time, could The Misfits be a possible influence for this song?

Anyone else ever thought this could be from the Devil's point of view, singing to a sinner whom he's taking down to Hell?

I agree with this being about the afterlife, but it seems to be told from the perspective of a zombie, for me. The lines about "eating them" and this being a "wicked way to die" gave me the idea, and the whole song seems to reflect it. The concept is so original in songwriting that it stands as one of my favorite songs of all time.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
