Set the World on Fire (The Lie of Lies) Lyrics
Reaching for my blades with stars on high
Tempt the betrayers, through twilight I fall
In the flame and I curse you all
Falling deep into the sweep
Collapsing back
And with these wings, we'll set the world on fire
Fly with me through scorching skies
You and I, the lie of lies
Two-faced snake, wicked shedding skin
I will forsake you, destroy and unmake you
With all my might, I will take you down
Falling deep within the sweep
Collapsing back
And with these wings, we'll set the world on fire
Fly with me through scorching skies
You and I, the lie of lies
Only I know the way
And with these wings, we'll set the world on fire
Fly with me through scorching skies
You and I (The lie of lies)
Lie of lies

Good song.

I am pretty sure that the lyrics in the small verse are "Only I know the way" instead of "only along the way"; this album has something to do with Milton's paradise lost, and Satan is the only one that knows the way out of hell in the epic poem.

Dude, where is Allen in this entire album? He's not really doing anything soulful. It's definitely Sym X but not the energetic, soulful, prog metalers I know. Kind of a letdown.

images is right though, the lyric is "Only I know the way".

the best song...i love it all ...

Anyway, the song is about Lucifer rebelling against God and taking the rebel angels with him a la Milton's Paradise Lost.

This song describes the first two books of Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost. Here's a synopsis of them.
Book I: In a long, twisting opening sentence mirroring the epic poetry of the Ancient Greeks, the poet invokes the "Heavenly Muse" (the Holy Spirit) and states his theme, the Fall of Man, and his aim, to "justify the ways of God to men."[1] Satan, Beelzebub, and the other rebel angels are described as lying on a lake of fire, from which Satan rises up to claim hell as his own domain and delivers a rousing speech to his followers ("Better to reign in hell, than serve in heav'n"). The logic of Satan (Satanic Logic) is introduced by: "The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven." Book II: Satan and the rebel angels debate whether or not to wage another war on Heaven, and Beelzebub tells them of a new world being built, which is to be the home of Man. Satan decides to visit this new world, passes through the Gates of Hell, past the sentries Sin and Death, and journeys through the realm of Chaos. Here, Satan is described as having given birth to Sin with a burst of flame from his forehead, before he began open warfare with God–as Athena was born from the head of Zeus.
Right, so the lyrics on this page are somewhat incorrect. Where it says "Tempt the betrayers" it's supposed to be "Damn the betrayers" and I was wondering - who are the betrayers? Do you know? I mean, is Satan talking about Abdiel, 'cause he's only one who hung back from going against God again. Or is Satan talking about God and those who did not rebel against Him?
