Dark, you can't come soon enough for me
Saved, from one more day of misery
Everything I love
Get back for me now
Everyone I love
I need you now

Don't forget a million miles for me
Safe and another day passed by me
Everything I love
Get back for me now
Everyone I love
I need you now

So what, I lied
I'd lie to me too (so what?)
So what, I lied
I'd lie to me too (so what?)

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you
You, you too

Right to the edge I'm barely there
Slow
To make my move, I'm almost there
Everything I say
I say to me first
Everything I do
I do to me first

(So what?) so what, I lied
I'd lie to me too (so what?)
So what, I lied
I'd lie to me too (so what?)

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you
You, you too

Dark, you can't come soon enough for me

To me it deals with depression and suppressing emotions to appease other people. Pretending like everything is fine, constantly editing your words and actions to make it seem like youre okay but in reality all you want to do is break down and let everyone know how crappy everything is. Its about getting through life one day at a time.

I think it could also tie into coming out and having to deal with everything that comes with that. "so what i lied? i lied to me to" meaning "yea okay i didnt tell you but i was also denying it to myself too"

Well, I don't know about you guys, but for some reason this rings "coming out" in my mind. Tegan and Sara are both gay, as the majority of us probably know- and Sara was fine with it waay before Tegan would let the "I'm straight" thing go. I think "hide out from the ones you know will love you" kinda means that although your family will love you regardless of that one factor, you still hide it because of all the unsure thoughts. And it especially impounded the meaning when she said "So what (come on) I lied to me too" in a sense you lie to yourself. When something happens to me that deals with my sexuality (bi) that makes me really upset, just laying in the floor and listening to that song or driving around and listening to it really helps.

I think it's about trust... not trusting yourself... not trusting others... withdrawing into yourself and holding everything in because you feel like you have no one except yourself to count on.

the songs about being in pain from a recent horrible break up.....and initially being in denial that your'e totally fine and that you don't need the support of your family and friends to get over it

you act all brave....and you rehearse how your'e going to act in front of the ones closest to you ....so they won't know that your really hurting........

but in the end you'll admit that you that you can't get over the heartbreak alone and that you really need their supppot of everyone you love.

i also think a little bit of the song is about how you can almost get over someone (without the support of anyone else) and then the next thing you know your back in pain ( step 1)

i read somewhere that tegan said it was in reference to the fear that her family members knew what she was going through even though she lied to them and said that everything was ok. i also think she touched on the subject that she was ok with sharing her feelings in a song to tons of people but the thought of her family members and people she cared about hearing her feelings that she hid from them scared her more than releasing it to all the fans.

I think this song means Tegan coming out of the closet. "So what I lied, I lie to me too." She once said she denied her sexuality. And now she needs everyone to be there for her now, to accept her. "Hold out for the ones you know will love you. Hide out from the ones you know will love you too." Just be who you are, even if that person won't accept who you really are.

I'm convinced this has nothing to do with Tegan's personal relationship with someone else, but rather her own relationship with being homosexual. Because we live in an intolerant world, dark is the only time she can escape from it, and be at peace...in her dreams. "Dark, you can't come soon enough for me."

I can very much relate to this song. I've gone through (and still going through) acceptance to family and friends about my own sexuality. So I can relate.

I think this song is a cry for help from the people the matter the most to the person singing the song. Like they are asking for suport from their famlie and friends.

According to Tegan in an interview, this song is basically a plea for the telephone. She had a phone plan that allowed her to make calls past 9 PM, so the "dark" in the song is referring to the time where she can make her calls.

lol.. when I seen them live Tegan said "dark come soon" was in reference to a certain time where she had no minutes and was only using her cell phone at night.. around 9 or something which was "dark come soon".. and then she said that probably ruined the song for everyone, cause it sounds more serious than it is.

I always viewed this as a song focused on coming out of the closet. Being miserable because you're afraid and feel alone. Then saying you need the people you love to comfort you, and the things you love to bring you out of your pit of depression. The lying to yourself, trying to convince yourself you're straight, and then lying to those you love because your afraid of not having acceptance.

It could also be about depression, lying, saying you're happy or just fine. And when you finally explain to someone they're upset at how long you've kept it from them. Then you become more miserable knowing you've hurt them in some way, and plea for them to just be there for you because that's what you need most.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
