"Misfit Love" as written by and Josh/castillo Homme....
Wanna see my passin' flames?
Don't waste a drop, baby, I ain't first
Where I was born, no escape
There ain't even no good bad drugs
In the city, is it true?
If you don't, you act like you do
Feast of fools, I can't wait
Give 'em a taste of my misfit love

Feel my heart wake up?

Ain't born to lose, baby
I'm born to win
I'm so goddamn sick, baby, it's a sin
It's a sin

Transforming is becoming...
Transforming is becoming on me

Do me first, do your worst
Gimme what I want some of
One-track mind, no time to waste

Sidewalks, feel me strut so good
Gutter, don't forget this face
Let 'em taste my misfit love
I'll show you all my dirty tricks
Then show 'em again I'm so proud of 'em
It's cruel to be constantly
Feel my heart play dumb

Ain't born to lose, baby
I'm born to win
I'm so sick, baby, it's a sin
It's a sin

Just a dead man, walking through the dead of night
And if you're going anywhere tonight...
Just a dead end walking through the dead of night
And if you are going, can I get a ride?
Just a dead man walking through the dead of night
It's impossible to wait until the light
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won

General CommentFrom what I remember, Josh said that this song was about leaving the desert, going to the big city for the first time and having that sort of cocky feeling of 'wait 'till they get a load of me.' Like, 'they've never seen anything as badass as me before.'

I love this song, and the last bit of it is like some form of heaven.

General CommentI think everyone's right about the first part, cockiness, bravado, strolling into the city like he's a badass and thinking he can rock star it up with no consequences.

The end part (which is beautiful) is more like turning the lights on and looking in the mirror after a long night. You see the bloodshoot eyes and the dark circles and realize you're kind of already dead - all these adventures have been pretty fake - you're gone.

I like how it's connected to "sutre up my future" where he also says he's already gone.
Why go to rehab now? I am dead person walking around.

General Commentas you can see on my name, I´m absolutely addicted to this song!
first time hearing it, so strange,so "not-changing", but the end always kept in mind...then having the album, and hearing it every day. also the verses started to make sense. Now I´m lovin this tiny little thing to death and the way ltl describes the end like heaven...yeah dude,i agree a 100%
I dunno why (cause it´s f´n awesome!:D) but I still get goose bumps while enjoying the end...so great!

i always thought of a kinda different meaning. i imagined a homeless person, a misfit, who had his problems with his life in the past, and now wants to get more recognized. tryin to get love from another person("and if you are goin, can i get a ride?") is his challenge to become happier and more satisfied in the future, cause he knows that he "ain´t born to lose",but "born to win"

you might know that josh got "born to win" tattoed on his arm.....I´m thinkin of doin the same sometime in the future ;)

    and again,
    thx,josh, you f´n god,you!

General CommentI was thinking the song was about Picking up hookers in Las Vegas.
    God they are everywhere.
Not to mention that would be Misfit Love.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
at the end of the song he is gone.

My InterpretationThis song is awesome. I can listen to it over and over, but never get tired of it. I think that Josh is singing about making a permanent move from a small town to the big city. The rest of the song is about being cocky about picking up hookers. But at the end of the night, the hookers take his money and Josh passes out before he can do anything. His friends knew he'd get too drunk and just pass out. He was like a dead man walking in the dead of night, very drunk, no emotion, and he friends bet on him and won.

General CommentI'm not entirely sure how to describe the point of this song.

He seems to imply drug use, teaching an inexperienced person about love, (Do me first) and leaving his past behind. (See the first lyric) The latter would fit with Suture my future. He thinks also tat he can teach others, (see dirty tricks lyric) and views everyone else as prey for his desires. (feast of fools)

He's very confident, (he's so slick) but he's directionless and has no purpose. (Just a dead man/end)

He's overcompensating with licentious behavior while leaving his past behind. I think.
