In case it gets away from us
Don’t pull it close,
the damage revealed the cost
And it wasn’t worth it, but they’ll never know
To keep in mind the line that separates idols
If the world is a dream and nothing is worth it
Unless you have a god. (We’re all going to hell)
But we wont be saved we’ll live as slaves to love
What god takes away, let’s refill all your holes with mud
“Purchase your tickets; I’m kicking your crosses down”
And all the voices sound just like you
I’ll be there-
Breathe in-
It’s been so long (I’ve felt so wrong again)
I fixed myself up nice but you never came
The words rolled off our backs and sound the same
I’ll be waiting-
I hope that it’s worth it but I’ll never know

General CommentI believe this song to be the bands thought concerning the pain when searching for a purposeful life under a nihilistic view.
Nietzsche proclaimed "God is Dead" meaning the "true world view", which was popular under practical everything religion (and communism or a warm and fuzzy feeling about the future) has lost popularity and left us wondering what to do. Let's fill all the holes with mud

General CommentCirca is really beginning to piss me off.
I believe in God and blah blah blah, but it's really frustrating that every single band I love hates God. When I first started listening to Circa, I didn't notice the meaning of their music. But then I heard this song.
This is particularly frustrating because people "open their eyes" to see that there is no God, but who are they to open their eyes? I "opened" my eyes and realized there WAS a God. It's all a matter of who's writing the lyrics, but it seems more often than not that they realize God isn't there.

And has anyone ever stopped to think that maybe God doesn't answer our prayers because we are being tested, or even better yet (this would be a great subject of a song) that we don't deserve his help. Maybe the injustice in the world is to show how much we've screwed up our world.

Will someone please write a cool song like Circa, but not make it about atheism OR religion? I want music untainted by religion, or lack thereof. It spoils the music either way.

My OpinionEcclesiastes 3:11 b (b stands for the second half of a verse)
:"he (God) has also placed eternity in our hearts."
meaning we will always yearn, long for something more than this earth.
just thought that went along with this song whether they're christian or non christian

i hope they understand that life is random gods made a time for everything half of the things we do our just to keep us occupied.

and in reference to "well still be slaves to love that's wrong you always have the choice satan was once an angel he chose to leave im sure we can do the same except well most likely wont want to which is good
well the point is if god wanted to take away our free will he could but doesnt he lets us chose, we always have the choice.

My InterpretationI don't see this as anti-Christian at all. I see it as the guilt of becoming someone's idol as a celebrity from a Christian point of view. (This is irrelevant; but I personally am an Atheist.)

"In case it gets away from us
    Don’t pull it close,
    the damage revealed the cost
And it wasn’t worth it, but they’ll never know"
To me this means; we want to remain blind to the impact that we are having on people. In case we start to realize this, let's push it out of our minds because all of this is probably not worth the damage that we are doing - and to make things worse, the people we are affecting most will never even know (probably their fans.)

"To keep in mind the line that separates idols"
They feel as if they are being worshipped or revered as idols which is not OK in Christianity.

"If the world is a dream and nothing is worth it
Unless you have a god. (We’re all going to hell)"
"If" is conditional. They aren't sure what the true nature of reality is, but if God is really a huge and integral part of life and really is the purpose for us all being here, the band and those who worship them as idols are going to hell

"But we wont be saved we’ll live as slaves to love
What god takes away, let’s refill all your holes with mud"
I see "mud" as worldly, spiritually harmful behaviors... More idolization, possibly drugs and alcohol, etc.
This portion is saying that instead of seeking God for the emptiness, they will continue to fill the holes in their lives with this "mud."
"“Purchase your tickets; I’m kicking your crosses down”"
Really he's saying "pay me to destroy your religion/chances at getting into heaven." By being my fan and listeing to my music and holding me as an idol you may be trading your chance of eternal salvation.

"And all the voices sound just like you
    I’ll be there-
    Breathe in-
It’s been so long (I’ve felt so wrong again)
I fixed myself up nice but you never came
The words rolled off our backs and sound the same
    I’ll be waiting-
I hope that it’s worth it but I’ll never know"
I think this is saying he was betrayed by religion of God in the past, maybe he felt that he did everything right but still got the short end of the stick in life so he turned away.. Got older and more rebellious and lost faith entirely but he still feels some of the guilt because of the unknowns. Maybe he is doing something sinful here, maybe God is real, maybe he is harming people by performing and being revered as an idol. All he can really do is hope that the actions he takes are worth is and reap more positive than negative repercussions in the end.

My Interpretation'we'll live as slaves of love; what god takes away, let's refill all the holes with mud.' i think pretty much it means is that following religion, or some sort of defined system, isn't really how one should love or treat people. religion doesn't define any sort of real morality. some of the most religious people i've ever met are some of the most judgmental people i've ever met, with strict rules on what's proper and what's not. (the damage revealed the cost and it wasn't worth it.) natural human morality vs. following what god (we believe in something invisible) tells you to do.

'the world is a dream and nothing is worth it unless you have a god.' it's kind of sarcastic and bitter. and then it breaks into, in a...happier, maybe?, tone, 'but we won't be saved...' circa survive has a lot of moral-type questions if you listen. 'optimistic daring me, would you trade your soul for gold?' how far are you willing to go to get what you want? an optimistic...do you keep trying or just give up?

General Commentobviously the title says it all, its about god and organized religion...

In case it gets away from us
    Don’t pull it close,
(i think this is talking about if you loose faith dont bring it back)
    the damage revealed the cost
And it wasn’t worth it, but they’ll never know
(this refers to sinning i think, if you sin you damage your relationship with god, hes saying its not worth caring about, but the people who do have these relationships dont relaize it)
To keep in mind the line that separates idols
(hes pretty much questioning peoples belief in god)
If the world is a dream and nothing is worth it(this line is bone chillin because i said the same thing to a friend, of how your life is pretty much a dream because if you dont put faith in god and dont believe then when you do all of this will mean nothing, just like when you wake up from a dream)
Unless you have a god. (We’re all going to hell)
(hes saying you have no hope if youre like him and dont belive in god)
But we wont be saved we’ll live as slaves to love
(hes saying he wont put his faith in god, hell do what he wants and loves to do regardless of if its sinning? not sure bout that one)
What god takes away, let’s refill all your holes with mud
(i htink this comes from peoples belief that everything is fate determined by god and hes saying that he wont let this hapen hell just keep moving on and overcoming)
“Purchase your tickets; I’m kicking your crosses down”
(hes saying keep putting your faith cuz it means nothing, religin is hopeless)
And all the voices sound just like you
    I’ll be there-
    Breathe in-
(hes saying he always believed it was true taht god was there hed try not to sin and it would sem like god would help but no help came form his problems)

It’s been so long (I’ve felt so wrong again)
(its been a long time hes been sinning, he needs that presence of god)

I fixed myself up nice but you never came
(he tried to remain and put faith once again, but still received no signs from god)

The words rolled off our backs and sound the same
    I’ll be waiting-
I hope that it’s worth it but I’ll never know
(he keeps tryin the same thing being told the same thing, but hes still gonna keep putting faith and trying even tho he feels, god will never come hes still gonna take that chance because he needs him there

General CommentId almost say that this was written in similar state to 7 years when Anthony was in Saosin. Then again, they both (at the least) mention religion, so perhaps Im being shallow. Just an obervation
