"City Song" as written by and Emma Moss....
Now is the hour when we must say goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away, o, then remember me
When you return, you'll find me waiting here

Sunset glow fades in the west
Night o'er the valley is creeping
Birds cuddle down in their nest
Soon all the world will be sleeping

Now is the hour when we must say goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away, o, then remember me
When you return, you'll find me waiting here

General CommentI can't believe this song has no comments. It's one of those songs that just FEELS like it's moving forward. The first time I heard it I definitely watered up a little at the end.

General CommentThey pulled a human from my waist
It had your mouth, it had your face
I would have kept it if I'd stayed.

Most certainly about an abortion, no? Just like "We Almost Had a Baby"

General Comment"What will you look like when you're old?
What will I do if I don't know you?
I guess that I decided not to ask the day I took the road"

"They pulled a human from my waist,
It had your mouth, it had your face
I would have kept it if I'd stayed."

sounds like an aborted baby to me

General Comment"I walk until there's nothing left to tread" not 'trek

My InterpretationIt's so interesting that the "you" could refer to both the child and the ex-lover. The line that kills me is "I don't remember you at all." She's trying to convince herself that this was a nothing relationship, that it was worth having an abortion to come to the city and make it big. But she still remembers every detail about him, like how he tasted, or what his face and mouth looked like.
