"Chicken Wire" as written by and Joseph Pernice....
With a drink in her hand
She will stop her car and then
Seal herself for good in the garage
She's never leaving

There were times to be sure
It was so pure you might choke
But it's too late in the garage
The falling ceiling

And all the walls will fade to black
Could she be thinking of another now

Take my hand, pull me through
There's so much i left undone
But it's too late now in the garage

And all the walls will fade to black
Could she be thinking of another

They found her car still running
In the garage
She'd come so far to end her life
By the rusty mower and chicken wire
By the chicken wire and studded tire
By the rusty mower and chicken wire

this was listed the number one saddest song in a list made on spinner. i've never heard it before now.
it reminds me of my neighbor who committed suicide with the car running in the garage. she was middle-aged and unmarried, living alone. it is pretty sad if you think about it, but i still don't think it's the saddest song... it doesn't even look too popular either.

    General CommentI agree.
I thought the saddest was the one about the abortion.

General CommentI found it from the same source, actually. But I think it's a really evocative song, especially in the last few lines.

    General Commentextremely sad song

i think she was just fed up with living

'She'd come so far to end her life'

it wasn't a question of money or status
