Last time I saw you, you were on stage
Your hair was wild, your eyes were red
And you were in a rage
You were swinging your guitar around.
Cause they wanted to hear that sound
But you didn't want to play.
And I don't blame you.
I don't blame you.
Been around the world, in many situations
Been inside many heads in different positions
But you never wanted them that way.
What a cruel price you thought that you had to pay.
And that for all that shit on stage.
But it never made sense to them anyway,
Could you imagine if when they turned their backs
They were only scratching their heads.
Cause you simply deserve the best.
And I don't blame you
They said you were the best,
But then they were only kids
Then you would recall the deadly houses you grew up in
Just because they knew your name,
Doesn't mean they know from where you came
What a sad trick you thought that you had to play.
But I don't blame you
They never owned it
And you never owed it to them anyway.
I don't blame you.
Your hair was wild, your eyes were red
And you were in a rage
You were swinging your guitar around.
Cause they wanted to hear that sound
But you didn't want to play.
And I don't blame you.
I don't blame you.
Been around the world, in many situations
Been inside many heads in different positions
But you never wanted them that way.
What a cruel price you thought that you had to pay.
And that for all that shit on stage.
But it never made sense to them anyway,

I don't blame you.

Just because they knew your name doesn't mean they know from where you came.
Adore these lyrics. Pretty obvious... Makes me think of that line (I can't believe I'm quoting a video game) "Let's open the show with our single.... get that piece of shit out of the way." Pretty much the bad taste and ignorance of even your "biggest fans." Much as they pretend they're close to you, or that they have any idea what sort of person you are, they never really understand.
And it's pathetic. =D
(so cheery)

...Sounds like a lot of Nirvana's shows/Kurt's behavior on stage. Fans cheering for them to play the radio hits like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' probably began driving him mad.
"Been around the world, in many situations

But you never wanted them that way.
What a cruel price you thought that you had to pay.

...He never intended to be famous, it was a complete accident. The impact he had on people felt so unnatural to him, a severely self-conscious heroin addict from out of nowhere.

...Kurt had a f*cked up childhood, as is described in some of his songs. He came from literally nothing and yet his fans thought of him as a godlike figure.
The "I don't blame you" may be that she doesn't really blame him for killing himself after all that...
a) kurt cobain, because of the suicide
b)john lennon because of yoko ono and the break up of the beatles
c)elvis because of the drug use or maybe even the army...?
regardless, i still adore the song
