I'll lead you around the ocean
Where grass grows
And remnants of you in devotion
My breath's out
Inhaling upon trees, it's frozen
And look out
And trace along the house where shit is frozen
Then holding
Quietly
The sound is dead
And sing in turn
In light
When life meets child, your only plight
In light
When ceilings smile, we'll sleep a while
In light
I'll take you for walks among the patients

She had a pretty dad
But she was growing out of playschool
Still she could kick and scream and play
Until she wanted to
My little chocolate girl
Her brother barely out of high school
Lived in a place where he could scream
Until he wanted to
Oh fuzzy tidy cat
And she could bury him in apples
And curl around a bowl of cotton
'Til she wanted to

Still she had to speak loud
'Cause hearing isn't, "I am here with them"
And we took
A picture, Sunday flowers in the garden
And quite late
Still drinking with the boys until it's later
And pray small
Your hopes of something better to show her
And holding tight
The sound is dead
It's singing time
In light
When life meets child, your only plight
In light
When ceilings smile, we'll sleep a while
In light
I'll take you for walks among the patients

She met a pretty boy
And they would dance between their elders
And she would cream until the wine she bought had settled in
My little chocolate girl
She used to love the stars of England
She slept on records and her market jewelry
From her school
Her colors matched the room
And she would twirl around the curtains
She had a hand to hold her chin up
When her friends walked out
The kid across the street
He'll keep around when she was changing
And he would wait and she would tell her friends about the boys
Her Mom and Dad at home
She had saliva in her pockets
She gave a girl when her last grace hath found thee, dig the day

So good, my chocolate girl
Oh won't you like an 'A'?

So put your lanterns on across the maze
So I won't feast on folly
Bell of the rain who brought the stings and dead
And who will pop the trade
'Cause I can't see you
I'll open up my brain again

i thought i posted this comment in this song already.. but i played this song for a girl and it was the first animal collective song she loved.. she kept asking me to play it over and over and in the end i gave her the nickname chocolate girl.

Someone posted my lyrics and Avey said they were far off... but he didn't want to give them to us because it would spoil the mystique. Makes sense, I guess. I doubt they are brilliant. Their hidden aspects make the song better.

    My Interpretation

To me it sounds like a dad and his daughter, and he slowly loses her as she grows up and needs less and less of him, meets boys, etc. There's nothing he can really do but accept it. Such is life.

And who will part the train, Cause I can't see you, I'll open up my brain again,

Either you are paying tons of money. Have a really really good hook up or are buying the second pressing. Considering Spirit theyve gone was originally like what five hundred or less prints

i have a theory after "Still she had to speak loud" since there was a line missing i thought i'd try. and what i heard ended up altering my opinion with a different take on the next few lines as well.. enjoy or discard.

cause hearing isn't higher then rhythm and meets him and picks her sunday flowers in the autumn and quietly still drinking with the boys and their friend and prays long in hopes of something better to show them and holding tightly and the sound is dead.... etc

well thats it. i guess the sunday flowers supports the praying line. who knows. lyrics can be tough.. glad there are so many contributing!!

A guy gave me a mix CD of songs awhile ago and this song was the opener or a range of cryptic songs arranged as a type of message. I still puzzle over this song, it's quite cute.

perhaps the end of the song goes like this:

put your little daughter 'cross the knees so i won't feast and follow better love the rain who brought the stings ended and who will pop the triggers i can't see you i'll open up my brain again

These lyrics seem completely wrong to me. I have the lyrics I think are closer but I'm not sure if I should post them. Anyway, this song is so dreamlike. I think it's about the singer falling in love with a girl he met in a dream. She's chocolate girl because when he woke up she just sort of melted away and the only thing left is a sweet aftertaste.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
