"This song is about the girl and drugs that ruined my life, C'mon!"

It was just another story of two kids from the street
who were trying to survive and not get beat
stand together and try to give
It was two lost souls that were learning to live
A life of pain and I couldn't let go
A love like hers, I'll never know
And I can't understand it, why I took it for granted
Threw me for a spin and I still haven't landed

[Chorus]
It's a black night!
every thing's all right
just another black night, black night baby (yeah)

Just another night when you want to get high
Sticking needles in your arms and you're hoping to die
Five dollars will forget your past
Five more dollars and you'll never last
Living in a world that I can't let go
I thought by now that I, I'd know
I'm lost in this hell
I'm stuck without bail
I've got nothing left but a world of betrayal

[Chorus]
It's a black night!
every thing's all right
just another black night, black night baby (yeah)

These long dark nights when you think its done
You got your hand held tight around your gun
In those days when its hard to live
Some things happen that you can't forgive
In those minutes when nothing's left
So you close your eyes and pray for death
Well that's a black night, what's a black night?
Just another black night, black night baby!

[Chorus]
It's a black night!
every thing's all right
just another black night, black night baby (yeah)

Never look back, no I'll never look back, no I'll never look back
oh no.

The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
