"On Your Own Again" as written by and Scott Engel....
Wasn't it a good year
Wasn't filled with talking
It still moves through my heart
From time to time
City after city
Granite gray as morning
Heroes died in subways left behind
Far behind like our love
You're on your own again
And you're your best again
That's what you tell yourself
I see it all the way as far as anyone can see
Except when it began I was so happy I didn't feel like me

General CommentFor me, it's remembering a relationship with someone. For a period of time, when you're in love, when things are all new, you are new, too, and during that time you abandon your self-sabotaging ways, and you don't feel like yourself. "When it begin, I was so happy, I didn't feel like me". Eventually, your bad side rears up its ugly head, bad expectations become self-fulfilling prophecy... but it was worth it - for that first period when you actually allowed yourself to become someone else, someone happy.

My InterpretationIn my mind this Song has always been a reflection of how Scott really enjoyed the transition from
being surrounded by people (Or from being in a relationship that was uncomfortable to him)to being left
alone and allowed to be "Himself" again...

Which incidently is Introverted and Deeply Private.

(I especially love the line "Your on your Own Again, And You'r Your Best Again - Thats What you Tell yourself" I can totally relate to that.)

However sometime after (Having seen it through as far as it would go)
he realises that it has left him feeling lonely..
