We came down by the factory
industrial yards where my father did work
When I was a boy, I went too far
I lost the thread in the darkest of space
If I become antique, you collect me
If I become cheap, then you'll respect me
My jumper is soaked in pig's blood
I'm coming out, looking for you
If you pull a hatchet
I'll pull something to match it
How about your wife?
I will give her a good life
My vehicle is in
your drive
Hey, I'm not that low
The wolves came on the radio
transmitting through a portal
in the snowy atlas mountains

WHAT THE... why isn't there a comment here jet... can't believe you guys... anyway, this songs truelly depresses me.. and I love it.. I got his album blind and came out a little dissapointed at first when I listend to it.. but after putting it on repeat on the background.. it suprised me... there are some really good songs on the album... way to go fionn though the song, I heard this song for the first time when I was truly madly in love with someone who couldn't love me back in the same way... or in the way I would have wished for... the line 'If I become cheap, then you'll respect me' really stood out for me... and I couldn't help but to get down over it.. I ended up hart broken and meanwhile still very in love.. it's one of the worst feelings in the world.. loving someone who can't love you back in the same way... and living hartbroken as a result for your blindness.. but hell... that's the mind playing tricks on ya... anyway.. so... snowy atlas mountains :)

I think it's a story about two mountaineers who have an accident, and one of them dies while mountaineering for some reason in the Atlas Mountains- the living one "lost a thread in the darkest of space", so he accidentally dropped his partner. He then goes home to mourn and take care of the dead one's wife. The "wolves" that came on the radio are search teams confirming that the dead one was found. It seems that the incident changed him, as he considers himself a boy before it happened, and says he "was" a boy.

This is my joint favourite song of all time. I always associate it with 'The Wasp Factory' by Iain Banks because I had it on repeat the whole four days I sat reading it. It even fits with the character for me in certain parts "My jumper is soaked in pig's blood" and just the general feeling of isolation you get from the song. I can't wait to hear his new album.

This song sounds like bitterness and insecurity out of someones control.
