"Fake" as written by Ian Kirkham, Kenji Suzuki, Gota Yashiki, Mark Andrew Jaimes, Dee Johnson, Sarah Brown, Chris De Margary, Kevin Robinson, John Johnson, Mick Hucknall and Steve Lewinson....
Watching love drifting away
And I feel like I'm someone else
The hurting is rough
Long are the days
And you have hurt me enough

You're scared to be loved
You know that's your way
Your youth has made you too tough
You're hurting for love in so many ways
The truth has hurt you enough

I read a book
And it's your face
Fake? it's your face now
Still my love for you was no mistake
Fake? I will always love you
Fake

Hoping for love
Day after day
And it's always someone else
The hurting is rough
Long are the days
And you have hurt me enough

You're burning your hair
On your cigarette, oh baby
Turning your nose up
At the clothes your girlfriend wears
I don't care

Always, always, always I will love you

My OpinionThis is definitely about a broken relationship. The line 'watching love drifting away' says enough. He's talking about the one he loved and how the way he sees her now the love is gone and how he's dealing with the pain she caused. He tells how he blames her for not being capable to love him the way she had to because some unpleasant things happened in her youth. In the remix of the song is a line that says 'your mother she knows that something is wrong with you, baby'. Oh, how painfull for someone to hear that!

General CommentAs I understood and it is obvious from the song that she hurt him, that she has been changed and the reason is in something that happened in her youth, maybe someone broke her heart ...."You're hurting for love in so many ways" and then she changed and bacame fake, but he loves her anyway.

I did not get these lines "Turning your nose up At the clothes your girlfriend wears".
    What does that mean??

Song MeaningSorry, everyone, I'm pretty sure that this is NOT A POSITIVE LOVE SONG. :) Let's go verse by verse...

    Watching love drifting away
And I feel like I'm someone else
    The hurting is rough
    Long are the days
And you have hurt me enough
    -------------------------------------------
This means that he took her love seriously, the break up was painful for him, but now he feels it in a different way, maybe he feels that the his earlier interpretation of LOVE was wrong. His mind has opened now. Even the melody/harmony of this song opens in a special way confirming that something NEW is coming.

    You're scared to be loved
    You know that's your way
Your youth has made you too tough
You're hurting for love in so many ways
The truth has hurt you enough
    -------------------------------------------
This is the aftermath. Now he knows, that she would never open herself to real love, she is scared of it in fact, she even realizes it. When she was young, too many attention which she received from men made her high and mighty. The only thing she was able to do about that was pretending, pretending, pretending - hurting in fact.... She was simply weak to admit the truth to herself.

    I read a book
    And it's your face
    Fake? it's your face now
Still my love for you was no mistake
Fake? I will always love you
    Fake
    -------------------------------------------
This is the point where he sees her "new" face (in fact the same old face). And her face is a fake, in fact. Still, his love was real then and finally led him to understand what happened, why it happened. Last piece of puzzle... It appeared even something new about himself which he didn't know. He will love her for what she appeared to him... But "I will always love you" may also mean that he now realizes that his words became a fake. He meant it seriously when he loved her but now the words "I will always love you" are fake.

    Hoping for love
    Day after day
    And it's always someone else
    The hurting is rough
    Long are the days
And you have hurt me enough
    ------------------------
This is a very special verse. Since the break up, he is hoping for real love. But other - very similar - women are coming and this "kind of loving" hurts him. Not the love of every single woman. This is something he was already able to cope with. He is sad that there's so many "love like this". There's no real love for him, now. They're all fake.

    You're burning your hair
    On your cigarette, oh baby
    Turning your nose up
At the clothes your girlfriend wears
    I don't care
    -----------------------------
This is what he sees now. When he loved her, she was perfect for him, he didn't see her mistakes. Now he sees the embarrassing mistakes which she does. Burning hair with her cigarette, she even copies the dress style of her girlfriends because she has no fantasy on dressing. So he doesn't care about her anymore.

The line in the remix of the song:
"your mother she knows that something is wrong with you, baby"
    ------------------------------------
Even the one who knows her the best (her mom) realizes the she (her daughter) is unable to give real love.
