"My Little Box" as written by and Burt Bacharach Hal David....
Silent in my sanity
I live save inside my cell
In the darkness that surrounds me
I see my own special hell
Comfort in my suffering
Feeling warm inside this pain
Four walls coming down on me
Come on down again

I let you win, you come on to me
And you're so fucking brave
A chewed out lighten candle
Fell in my cool and empty cave
Somewhere in your world
They tell you this is what the people need
Doing all that shit on me
And leave me here to bleed

Cradle falls
(I live save inside my cell)
(In the darkness that surrounds me)
Unholy walls

Cradle falls, unholy walls
Cradle falls

Silent in my sanity
I live save inside my cell
In the darkness that surrounds me
I see my own special hell
Comfort in my suffering
Feeling warm inside this pain
Four walls coming down on me
Come on down again

You woke me out of my secret grave
You let your pretty world in

Cradle falls
(I live silently inside my cell)
(You woke me out of my sin)
Unholy walls
(You woke me out of my secret grave)
(You let your pretty world in)
Fall...

Now you're in my world
Did you dream it be so small
My little box was perfect
'Till you destroyed it all
My sanctity of sorrow gone
Forever in it's place
The saccharin sweet of you
Is all that's left to taste

Feeling claustrophobic
Now my world is closing in
Subtle retribution
Where I am and where I've been
I'll take you to a place
You never knew could be
Curled up, in my little box

Cradle falls

General CommentI think it's about suffering, but that's all I can get out of it so far, but I love the way it's played. I loved it in Ghost Ship - it fit perfectly in.

General CommentI fuckin' love this song. Yeah, it be neat if it was more known, but i think i like it better as "not-so-popular", it's better off with only a handfull of ppl knowing it. As for, it's meaning, i agree suffering, yes. But i think it's like he likes his world,"little box", and someone tried 2 help him out of his suffering, but failed, "My little box was perfect, til u destroyed it all". And they could've made it worse. That's just what i got.

General CommentAfter listening to it on repeat a few times today, i'm wondering if I maybe got a lyric wrong "sacred sweet of you" sounds more like "saccarine sweet of you" like the artificial sweetener, I think it makes more sense for the song, but I'm still not positive, anybody else think they can figure it out?

Song MeaningI believe it's about a person who feels safe in the world they know. They stay isolated and know that it's killing them. But they're use to the pain of isolation. Someone comes to take him out of his "hole" and he doesn't feel it's right or isn't use to it, so therefore he doesn't like it. He comes out and sees nothing but death and violence, when he saw nothing but calm and self in his "box". He then wishes to take the one who tried to take him out, into his own world. "a place you'll never knew could be" would simply be a world without violence, without death. A world he knew quite well.

And I do believe some changes need to be made:

    Feeling warm inside this pain
Before I was coming down on me
    I come on down again

    Needs to be:

    Feeling warm inside this pain
Four walls coming down on me
    Come on down again.

    Subtle retrobusion

    Needs to be

    Subtle retribution

General CommentA little emo, tbh, but it fits this genre, and expands on the concept in the movie of the spirits being trapped in the demon's "little box", on that ship. Only, there isn't really the release mentioned by "you let your pretty world in" in the film, unless that's intended to be ironic. Still very sexy and haunting.
