I'm staring out into the night,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.

Well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life YOU chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
Well I'm going home.

The miles are getting longer, it seems,
The closer I get to you.
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love, it makes true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me another try.

So I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,

Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all, yeah.

Oh, well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old.
I said these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
I'm going home.

    Song Meaning

In my opinion, it's simple: it's about death, aka "home", though we can make songs mean what we want us to mean. I say i have to agree with Kyle saying it could be about suicide and with 1hardhabittobreak about his father (r.i.p). Many people, usually when dying or at someone's deathbed use the term "Home" as reference to eternal sleep, since visualizing or being at home tends to give us a feeling of peace. think about the lyrics, and how writers use references:

staring out into the night (usually means deathbed); love and feeling good never cost a thing (happiness in the afterlife); my pain is a different kind of pain (not mortal, spiritual).

And where your love has always been enough for me (probably a reference to a Higher Being, maybe Chris felt like doing a Christian song); I'm not running from. No, I think you got me all wrong. I don't regret this life I chose for me (some people often regret certain things in life to blame for mistakes).

The miles are getting longer, it seems, The closer I get to you (probably the feeling of leaving this earth, but dying slowly); I've not always been the best man or friend for you, But your love, it makes true. (many people do not have any religious beliefs, or "fight" their deities until the very end).

And I don't know why. You always seem to give me another try (I don't know about others, but many religions believe G-d loves you, and will always be there for you when you are ready to commit to him, and will always forgive you if you love him back.

Be careful what you wish for,'Cause you just might get it all. You just might get it all, And then some you don't want. (this is very true, specially when people face some tough times, and whish they would. Well...be careful what you wish for, because you'll get it, and sometimes it is something you didn't want.)

*Well, although I do not believe i'm correct, I do believe the meaning for this song is about dying and go to your happy place. Let me know if that's what you guys think.

It sounds like a guy who's mother doesn't approve of his career (maybe as a musician who travels a lot). His mother knows that eventually he's going to get tired of traveling around and he's just going to want to come back home. Now he's coming home, but he's too stubborn to acknowledge that his mother was right so he just says that "these faces and places were getting old"

I'm not running from. No, I think you got me all wrong. I don't regret this life I chose for me. But these places and these faces are getting old,

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
