I knew a boy who came from the sea
He was the only boy who ever
Knew the truth about me

I'm overwhelmed and undersexed
Baby, what did you expect?
I'm overwrought and so disgraced
I'm too ashamed to show my face
And they're coming to take me away now
What I want I will never have

I'm on the Pacific Coast Highway
With your gun in my hand

I knew a boy who left me so ravaged
Do you even know the extent
Of the damage

My dirty little secret died
In between the sheets
And the promises that killed me
From your eyes

I'm bloody and totally bound
I don't know what to do with my hands now
I surrender, I give in
I'll kick down your door if you don't let me in

And I've lost myself completely
I look to you, my true desire
I'm on the Pacific Coast Highway
My god how did you fall so far?

Your whole world is in my hands
Your whole wide world is in my hands

My InterpretationThis is obviously about Kurt. He was "a boy who came from the sea" (Aberdeen is situated near the Pacific Coast, which also may lend to the selection of the title). By all accounts, Kurt is Courtney's most notable relationship and he would of been the only one "who ever knew the truth about [her]".

The rest is about her state after Kurt's death. How she's been "overwhelmed and undersexed", as well as "overwrought and so disgraced". Kurt's death may of also left her "ravaged" and she never showed the public how she truely felt about his death ("do you even know the extent of the damange?")

The final hint that this is about Kurt is the "with your gun in my hands" line, which may mean she feels responsible for his death. Sad, really, but a beautiful song - one of Courtney's finest.

General Comment'tightly bound' not 'totally bound'.

General CommentI agree with others, I do believe this is a song about Kurt Cobain's death and how it affected her. Some say Courtney is responsible for Kurt's death, but that's something that's left unknown. When I first heard this song, it made me respect Courtney so much more! With her refrences to the Pacific Coast highway, I think she has so much running through her mind that she just wants to drive the Pacific Coast highway to no end. When she speaks about how she's "drowning", I think that it ties into how she has so much running through her mind that it's drowning her inside and emotionally.
